This actually happened to one of my friends. He had to rush home after work on odd numbered days because those were his days to cook. His wife didn't have a job. She sat around all day or went to the mall to spend the money he earned. Once again putting words in my mouth. Being a husband has enhanced my life goals, not superceded them. I can see why you view marriage the way that you do, and I can see why it'd be appealing, but that's not how I choose to view it. I'm a greater purpose kind of guy, and have no shame admitting so. It has energized me and allowed me to tasks I once was too afraid to even try. It has allowed me to excel in my work as a teacher, given me the drive to be accepted to a high ranking law school on scholarship and learn skills I once thought useless in an effort to better secure myself and my partner. For someone who once battled with depression and generally being a lazy stoner, these are welcome changes to my life.
