One of the only white kids on the basketball team my whole life here, I live in Memphis and I truly do love this city and TN as a whole. Memphis just got its first white mayor in 2 or 3 decades. Young people are moving here because of the cheap housing prices, our NBA franchise is one of the best small market teams in the league, and our midtown arts district is doing so so well. This post sounds so optimistic about the city coming up cause it really is, but in the end it'll always be the way it is because of the MASSIVE dindu problem. In high school driving around downtown and taking a wrong turn gave me heart attacks dude, growing up and my dad just telling me if you run out of gas or your care breaks down and you're in (insert mainly black subsidized area here) just start running and call somebody to come get you. Don't call the cops cause they aren't coming.
