The media is corrupt, owned by corporate interests and their polls can be moved +/- 15% at their will.
If you look at polls before every primary and graph them Trump always drops, drops, drops. The media then uses these polls to shill how Trump is terrible, Trump is gunna lose, Trump is stumped etc to try and put people off Trump.
Of course this doesn't usually work and as the actual primary date comes close if you continue that graph of polls you'll notice them surge up fast toward the end as the media releases the actual polls, not wanting to destroy their reputation.

Cuckservatives have always been globalists first and foremost and happy to jettison evangelicals, gun-owners, small business, and social conservatives when it suits them. That's why Kasich and Cruz can nominally occupy opposite ends of the GOP spectrum while still both being Cuckservatives. The one panders to social liberal moderates because he's from a moderate state, the other to social conservative evangelicals because he's from a deep red state. In office they would both do the same thing: more global policing, more erosion of borders, more "free" trade agreements and international integration. Cruz's wife worked on the Bush administration think tank that plotted out how to create a North American Union and planned the NAFTA superhighway.
A president Cruz would do very little to curtail the excesses of homosexuals and other degenerates, and less to keep out Mexicans, but he would definitely advance the cause of globalism.
This is why Trump won evangelical states 2:1 versus Cruz. Trump may not be a pure social conservative, but he can at least be relied on to practice what he preaches. He's not so much a moderate as a radical centrist, and that can be a platform with very broad appeal
