No brit seems to be ashamed of whatever he did while drunk. On the other hand, I trashed a random bar's restroom last summer and I'm still ashamed about it.
Why so?

I've never understood this either. Some people are very capable of writing off things as
>haha I was drunk dude. Whatever happened, happened
I spend the next day after I drink heavily in a state of remorse, and I go over every stupid and not-cool thing that I said. I question every action and whether or not it helped or hurt me. Not saying that you are as extreme as me, but I can never brush things off as being drunk. I still have regrets to this day (26 yrs old) about shit I did in college.

England has a weird old prejudice to anything that isn't a cider, an ale, a lager or a snakebite. Wines are for gays, vodkas are for Slavs and whiskey/cognac/brandy is for old snobs. That's a mentality shared by majority of pub blokes. To be honest though as much as we like to drink our livers to death we are rather polite in our drunkenness.

Because we're bored and we have too much leisure time which is unnatural. We've been trained to believe we're incapable of a social outing unless it involves alcohol; if we're not drinking then we're not "fun".

I've recently begun doing long distance walking/hiking/camping and I've discovered how good it feels to just be a "human being" rather than a "human doing". I've taken my friends with me and it turns out we have just as much of a good time; if not a better time hiking up a huge mountain.

People are whats important; not the activity.

I love Jim Beam & coke. My new favorite is whiskey and ginger ale.

Have you ever had Ale 8 One? It's the unofficial state soda of Kentucky. I'd describe it as a mix of 25% Sprite, 75% ginger ale. It's a citrusy ginger ale. Anyway, it is God-tier to mix with bourbon, and it's all Kentucky local.

Are you from Kentucky or did you just visit Maker's Mark? That countryside is beautiful. Loretto and Lebanon is some of the most beautiful land I've ever seen. I love Central Kentucky.

Hold the door, pull her chair out for her, etc. Despite what you see on /pol/ about SJWs and shit, American girls like to be treated with respect and old school "chivalry" type honor.

Also, I met a couple English slags from Kent on a train in Germany and they told me I could find a job in England based on my accent alone. They said they love American accents over there. Is that true?

Historically speaking Beer may not have been a replacement for water, but it was viewed as a more nutritious alternative than water. Even though it was weakly brewed from barley, at the time beer was a calorie-laden beverage that pulled double-duty with workers and farmers who were thirsty and in need of energy.

It's long been in the British culture we also like to piss in the streets after closing time. much like Indians shitting in the streets. but of course we have toilets at home and at pubs.

kek you're right. I drank Kentucky Gentleman in college but that's not even bourbon. It's like 60% whisky, 40% "spirits."

The cheapest, actual bourbon that you can get is Old Crow. It was once a good brand, preferred by General Ulysses S. Grant. Nowadays, Old Crow is to Jim Beam what Busch Lite is to Budweiser. In huge factory distilling, they have giant grain storage that goes onto elevators and onto conveyor belts to the malting process. Sometimes, huge green balls of moldy corn or wheat will form within the rest of the grain, and it gets pushed into the line and turned into bourbon just like the good batches of corn at these mega-distillers. When they go through and taste the final barrels, all the shitty ones with that moldy taste get bottled as Old Crow and sold for $8 a handle (1.5 L for our Euro friends). Some bottles are not too awful, but some are literally undrinkable because of the mold flavor.

If I want really cheap bourbon at the bar in Kentucky, I ask for Old Crow and a mixer soda to drown out the flavor.

I remember once, I was in Munich with some mates, and we were out drinking in the park, and then my mate just keeled over, so we picked him up and set off home back to the hostel. So then we were sitting there at the tram station waiting for the tram, and we'd laid him out on the ground because there weren't any benches and we were hardly going to hold him up for 15 minutes waiting for a tram like. And then this nurse drove by, and she stopped and got out, and she wanted to take him to hospital, but we were just like, no, this is normal, he does this all the time, but she called the cops on us.

So in answer to your question I'd say we're just fucking banterful madlads and the continentals are dry shites who don't know a drunken stupor from a hole in the head.

Clearing up the stupid fucking pub/bar argument...

Traditionally a pub is a 'public house'. It doesn't just serve beer and meals but also has rooms for people to stay in. They didn't become centres for the community, more often than not the community developed with the pub as its centre.

It's a bit of a misnomer more often than not here, my favorite bar has happy "hour" M-F 2 pm to closing, everything half off. Get 22 oz craft beer for $3.50 or so (~£2.50 for you bongs).

But traditionally it's around 4 or 5 pm usually lots of deals for cheap beer and food and such, when people are getting out of school (college) or off work. Of course there are plenty of dirt cheap bars anyway without happy hour.

Well anything has to be in walking distance in Joo York. It costs $100,000 to buy, register, maintain a car in NY.
Otherwise, if its not close, you have to take a bus (the scooter). You have a huge chance that you will be robbed, or knocked out.
The buses are nasty and filthy and smell like a wet dog.
