Quebec Liberals are the worst kinds of politicians, I agree. They hold no values themselves and simply pander to popular sentiment.
The corruption isn't a Liberal thing, though. Municipal governments in Laval and Montreal and Longueuil are exponentially more corrupt. For the last 5? years we've had the ongoing Charbanneau commission and yet prices for contracts in public sector construction are not decreasing substantially like they should and several times a year there is another scandal about price fixing, whether it be roads, snow removal, sewage, whatever.
There is also no alternative to the LPQ because the PQ are equally corrupt. Each time the PQ takes office its a mad dash to permanently secure their futures as Quebec's eternal French government as they plot referendums.
Both parties are also run by French people, even the LPQ is run by softcore separatists who just realize they would lose their cushy position if they left Canada.
There is really no redeeming quality about Montreal or Quebec. The best idea would be to turn the island of Montreal into a city-state and flush it of corruption and let Quebec separate and refuse to admit them into NAFTA.
