What are some arguments against raising minimum wage?
>California will raises its minimum wage by $1 each year until 2022 reaching $15/hr.
>>
>Give me money I dont deserve and that don't reflect the real value of my work
>>
>>71049049
Why should you paid $15 an hour for doing something literally anyone can do
>>
Rising costs of hiring an employee means rising prices of goods and services, that means you can buy less with the same amount of money.

You could rise it to six billion and nothing would change.
>>
>>71049049
destroys small business, big business just fire people to make up for it or use robot check out. items just become more expensive so raised wage accomplishes nothing.
>>
it a temporary fix to a small problem that has worse outcomes than pro

It harms the economy by forcing employers to pay a high amount for menial work. There would be mass layoffs in companies that cannot afford to keep a high amount of workers. Large companies like Walmart would generally be unaffected though. Companies would also have to drive prices up to make up for the spike in pay
>>
Because we're nearing the point that it's unnecessary. I'm in central Ohio, and the big box stores around here are starting people at $10 / hour.

What we need isn't minimum wage laws. We need e-Verify and ENFORCEMENT of our immigration / hiring laws. If employers could go to prison for hiring illegals, wages would rise and illegals would go home.
>>
>implying high profit margins in a franchised restaurant
>pricing low skill workers out of the jobs they need to get the skills they need for non low-skill work.
>making people dependent on the state while pretending to help them
>I'm 12 and what is jew magic.
>>
>>71049049
These minimum wage jobs were made for high school and college students as part-time jobs, not as a fucking career choice.
>>
>>71049049
Also point out that minimum wage jobs are for teenagers who are just entering the workforce. Minimum wage jobs aren't for Shaniqua to hold herself over until welfare and child support from Daquan comes in
>>
California would fix its wage problems if they enforced E-Verify and ended Sanctuary Cities. That's all it would take.

>minimum wage jobs are for teenagers who are just entering the workforce.

Not an argument.
>>
How am I going to hire an apprentice electrician to do hard, sometimes dangerous work for 15/hr starting when they can just go to burger king and flip burgers for 15.

You raise those wages, I raise my wages, I raise my prices, your dollar doesn't go as far.
>>
>>71049049
>california thinking about new and innovative ways to bankrupt their economy.
muh progress
>>
we can also talk about how minimum wage laws hide the negative effects of near continuous inflation and wealth transfer the Fed created with it's money printing. If the value of the dollar had stayed steady since we went off the commodity standard, the purchasing power of current wages would be much greater.
>>
>>71049693
You're right, it's just something that I figured I would point out.
>>
These fascist tier arguments

Raising the minimum wage is good for consumers stop crying over muh small businesses. Automation is good, forcing small businesses to compete for talent and use competitive wages isn't a bad thing either. Stop being cucks.
>>
>>71049049
It will only further incentivize companies to cut hours and prop up part time positions
>>
>>71049049
Prices for everything will go up for everyone. The min. Wage earners will essentially have the same buying power as they did before. And the people that will hurt most are the lower-middle class and middle class. Their prices will rise but they won't get a massive raise. Once again, the middle class falls... like always.
>>
>>71050036
Good, Then the work force has to become better educated and only the shit tier people will debase themselves to these jobs and we won't have to subsidize their lifestyles
>>
>>71049889
we got a bern victim. Please go learn some economics before you embarrass yourself further.
Pic related, you've never seen one.
>>
>>71050158
$15/HR minimum wage is subsidizing people you fucking retard
>>
Because no one in the higher tiers of pay are willing to take a hit to their wallets to make things a little better for the people on the bottom.

Rather than pay employees the higher wage they would rather find alternatives like investing in machines that can do low level jobs or forcing more work onto less employees, making those jobs more competitive and leaving more people completely jobless.

However that's going to happen eventually someday regardless as technology advances and becomes cheaper and capable of performing more and more complex jobs.

Capitalism probably has an upward ceiling that we haven't reached yet (and probably won't for a long time), in which the government is just going to have to take care of the mass populace while machines, the people who maintenance machines, artists, and major decision makers are the only people who actually "work".
>>
>>71050304
No cuck, I'm Def not supporting a literal socialist. Businesses are supposed to serve the consumers and the best way to do that is by making them compete. An argument against paying fast food workres is that the service is shit and they don't deserve it. In reality the argument is that if people are making shit wage they put out shit work so it's understandable. If employers are paying higher wages than they will hire better workers to avoid losing productivity . A low minimum wage breeds shit work, proof is in the pudding.

If they automate jobs that's better, less people will end up trapped in dead end jobs and will be forced to get skills or develop more skills, those who work won't have to be on public assistance. If you are not tired of working people being on public assistance you're literally being cucked by corporate spin and talking points.
>>
>>71050521
You don't know what a subsidy is.
>>
>>71050992
This nigger probably works at Starbucks or some retail box store with an English degree
>>
>>71050828
This would only apply to the service industry. It's silly to think that of all 10% of minimum wage workers are going to be replaced. The "muh unemployed" argument is also silly, there is am entire industry whose purpose is to help indegent people.
>>
>>71049049
if raising it has no negative consequences then why not raise it to $10,000?
>>
>>71051231
Ad hominens already? Cry more kid.
>>
>>71049049
>$15/hr.
wot?
that's higher than any european country.
>>
>>71051523
Because there is a balance between what an employer can pay and the economy impact of flooding areas with cash. Money has worth and the current minimum wage affects service , spending and the rate at which people use government services.
>>
>>71051786
Cost of living in Muhrica I'd probably higher
>>
hurrr wages stayed duh saem while everyfing got mo expensiv so if we give evewyone mo moniez the system will clapse@!!

>>71050992

Lack of denial confirms you're probably a poorfag who didn't work at all in his teens and now you want the tax payers to subsidize your shitty life decisions because you can't get that departmental promotion at Target
>>
Minimum wage is entry level, to get experience while going to school so that by the time you graduate and have the education for a high level job, you also have experience working, getting places on time, and being reliable. The problem with raising entry level jobs wage to almost double what it is now, is that some people can live comfortably at that level of pay with no wish to ever advance, effectively forcing one person who wishes to continue in his or her career out of the job industry and denying them any experience. Why do you think so many jobs are now requiring 2 years experience at entry level jobs? It's because there are so many people with 2+ years experience at entry level jobs that are unwilling to move up the ladder because they don't wish in putting in any more effort.

Now there are sometimes people that are incapable of moving up to higher jobs and simply want to work, I.E. elderly or handicapped. They mostly work in the entry level, minimum wage jobs because they require next to no real skills. This is understandable and they are not the problem. The problem are those that are capable of becoming a larger gear in a larger system staying put and not moving up.
>>
>>71049049
I'd love to see it implemented, imagine the PR disaster of companies forced to fire their nigger employees so that they might get some people worth 15$ an hour.
>>
>>71049049
inflation, stuff starts costing more due to combination of increased buying power and the added cost of labor.

Race to the bottom - People who would have had higher paid jobs instead get minimum wage along with everyone else.
>>
>>71052385
You know this is real, right. This isn't a troll thread, California is actually doing this.
