I live in Houston, specifically Humble/Kingwood area. The roads and highways suck in upper Houston. They were built decades ago, and industry was built around them, rather than the roads being planned like a natural city. As such, it takes 20 minutes to drive somewhere a mile away because you have to weave in and out of busy streets, suburbs (all of which have no sidewalks) and God forbid when school gets let out. No shit, I'll be waiting I traffic for an hour sometimes.
However, one refreshing thing about Kingwood is how white it is, how many young kids are seeking higher education, and how many jobs are available in the greater Houston area.
Also the Woodlands is cool too. My D&D group meets there.

I actually live in The Woodlands but I'm originally from Dallas. It's a very nice area but I prefer Dallas overall.
There's a ton of wealthy white Mexicans here (among many other types of people) so you won't have trouble blending in, although I'd encourage you to try to assimilate to the Anglo culture. To be perfectly honest a lot of the wealthier Latin Americans are pretty arrogant and snobbish so I prefer the poorer ones, who are much more humble.
Main reason Hispanics (including native born ones) are looked down upon is because for whatever reason they're obnoxiously chauvinistic, have a tendency to not assimilate to our culture, and typically vote Drmocrat in order to gain government gibsmedars, which is very much looked down upon in our red state.
Other than that our reputation for racism is way over blown, and I'd say race relations are better here than in most parts of the country I've lived in (California, Deep South, and the Midwest)
