I've been wondering for a while now, what is supposed to give offense to these people from the Swedish flag? Can any swede-posters care to elaborate on why these people get offended.

Same thing in America. It's some extremist minority of a minority who hates being there and lashes out at the flag. So in response the media sensationalizes it, and the PC crowd decide that they need to not offend the poor minorities. Even when most of that minority doesn't care about the flag.
I guess Mexicans and blacks aren't actively plotting the destruction of the US though, unlike Muslims.
Because the swedish flag has become synonymous with neo nazis due to very intense swedish flag use by neo nazis and the same with the national anthem. So people have become more and more reserved against it's use.

It's illegal for swedes to use the swedish flag unless its a special day in the calendar that allows it. That's why they use the one in your pic instead.

Is it something the police enforce? Or is it just the sort of thing that your neighbours would think less of you for if you leave the real flag hanging for days?

It's not illegal per se. It's just something that Is Not Done.
Also, I think it might have to do with the maintenance of the flag. It used to be illegal to fly a dirty, damaged, or otherwise too worn-out flag.
Anyhow, most of those "Swedish flags are now illegal" posts come from satire sites who earn click-money by triggering the far-right.

Yeah. Wearing a Swedish flag, that's practically something only the nazis do.
But the raising of flags is something that's only really done for ceremonial purposes. National holidays, birthdays, other big events. So the raising of the flag is part of the special-ness of that day, the neo-nazis haven't fucked that up yet.
I suspect they would've if it wasn't such a special thing, though.

Honestly. The only ones I've heard talk about the Swedish flag being banned are the far-right.
It's kind of like this: They use the flag on everything related to them.
They give the flag a bad name.
They start to say that you can't use the flag any more. (Which gathers more support).
