It wasn't just banks, they owned a lot of other important things. There is also the historical context to consider. There is a huge history of anti-semitism in europe. They were also hugely linked to communism, and some time around the great depression the german economy collapsed Zimbabwe style, with hyper inflation and shit. There were also post WW1 grievances (not jew related but added to feeling Germany had been wronged).
So by going against Jews he can say fuck you to communists, rich fat cats, play on tribalist nationalism and assert Germany's strength in response to the wrongs that people felt had been inflicted on it.

Honestly, I know this will get hate on stormfront /pol/, but I don't think Hitler was racist.
I think he just used jews as a scapegoat to have a reason to destroy the native population of Poland. I mean, he invaded Poland really as a means to attempt to feed his people and his troops, and the fact that there were people living there was kind of a problem. So he took the most hated minority population and decided to target them and blame problems on them. It's actually kind of a clever tactic. I think he did it more as a political tactic rather than a personal hatred over Jews.
I'd be like invading Mexico, talking shit about how fucking digusting spics are, killing that population, and then using Mexico's farms to feed starving Americans. Same principle for a different era; invade, point at boogeyman, kill boogeyman, use boogeyman's resources.
