From my reading, it seems there are many Jews in power positions because historically and culturally Jews have been involved in and interested in the affairs of things like banking and mercantilism. Its very ingrained in their culture to be thrifty, to be entrepreneurs, and other such things.
It also makes a lot of sense. As a culture with so few people in it, in order to further protect, nurture, and expand your cultures power, you need many of your people to be in positions of power, especially politics, banking, media, and merchant businesses.
I'm not one to subscribe to the idea of an international Jewish conspiracy, rather, much like how Chinese businesses spend so much of their time undercutting American businesses, its just part of their culture and upbringing to seek these positions, much like in the past it to it was customary for Michigan folks to work in factories. When your parents raise you to be thrifty and entrepreneurial, those positions are naturally what you'll go towards.
Jews also tend to subscribe to the very Jewish idea that the community, particularly the poor, should be supported. Much of the Jewish scripture covers these concepts. So culturally, entrepreneurship is once again reinforced.
That doesn't mean that those Jews who get into those positions will use it to actually do such things, however, since we have examples of greedy or subversive Jews.
