Dear countries with socialized healthcare:

What's it like?

it sucks for the middle class, it's great for the poor people.

poor plebs use it because they can't afford private health care.

people from the middle class have to pay for it through taxes, but the service is so bad that they still have to use private health care if they want to get treated properly in most cases.

So the middle class is basically paying for something for which it has no use.
>>
>>70998290
but they still have healthcare right? there arent people in the middle class that cant afford to go to a doctor yes?
>>
>>70998390
I've only been to the hospital once in my life to get some stitches and I paid a very small fee but if you're poor you don't even pay that I think.
>>
>>70998390

not if they have health insurance.

a very decent health insurance plan costs around 600€/year here in Portugal.

but, i guess some of the lower middle class can't afford private health care in some cases.
>>
>>70997145
people are often dying here because doctors dont do full examinations/diagnosis and even if they figure out whats wrong with you, you might still die waiting for the surgery that fixes it

that being said americas system is pretty fucked up too bro, you guys have so much money

It sucks big dick.
At least in this shithole
As a medfag i assure you that if you are sent to the public hospitals I.M.S.S. you are better dead.
All patients are the fresh toys of the students and interns .
It gets even worse in the Universitary Hospitals.
But hey, At least we get fresh new corpses instead of the mummies we get sent from the elderly asylums.

But hey, You get what you pay for.

Pic related.
Wish i had saved the other one where some dumbfuck forgot to take out the stillborn kid after a failed pregnancy, the poor woman had a rotting fetus inside her for some days before the infection drove her to the hospital again

Dont worry lad.
You wont believe the shit you see as a medfag.
It is truly amusing how low the human being can go.
>>

I wouldn't swap it for anything.

Fair enough not wanting to become a socialist country, but if any part of society should get that treatment, it should be the healthcare system. Healthcare should be a right in a first world country.
>>
>>70997145
It's pretty good. I see the doctor whenever I need to. My prescriptions are cheap. Only problem is all the annoying Americans who come up to buy cheap drugs.

I pay $0 for my healthcare.

How much do Americans pay?
>>
It's really fucking shit. In recent news in my country some guy had a problem in his leg and the doctors cut one ball off of him. And then it took 4 fucking years of bureaucracy for them to acknowledge their mistake.

It's not perfect, anything that isn't a medical emergency comes with a delay. But I certainly wouldn't swap it for anything else.

>How much do Americans pay?
I haven't paid a single penny on health care in more than half a decade. I just tell Obamacare that I don't work, they don't have any way of finding out (and probably don't care either way), so they send me waivers that lets me save the money that nigger in the White House would've stolen from me, basically a waiver that reads 'We recognize that you don't have any money for us to take, so we won't charge you for not having mandatory health care.'.

This.

I recently had cut in my arm that got infected. Went to the hospital once it opened up and started bleeding down my arm. Went in to emergency and didn't have to wait at all at the front. The doctor came in to check it out. He realized it wasn't nearly as bad as it looked and left for a little bit. Took me to get an ultrasound on my arm. Came back and prescribed me and IV for seven days in case the infection had spread. He informed that I'd be getting a box in the mail with medical supplies and a nurse would be coming to hook it all up.

Went home. In half an hour I had a mailman knocking on my door. He gave me a box full of medical equipment. Some of it I have to say was execive and I didn't even really need. An hour later a nurse came to my house and hooked everything up for me. I had a little personal pump on a carry bag for seven days at home. She came every day to check up on me. After it was done, I went to the hospital to get checked up and have the IV removed. I did have to wait around that day because the doctors saw I was fully healed. Got it removed and left.

Cost: $0.

Yes it comes out of taxes, I get it. But it's nice not being smacked with a bill at the end of it. I'm a hard working tradesman. I contribute and pay taxes like everyone else. It's nice to get that service give you get taxes a fair bit.
>>
I have to work two jobs because nobody wants to give me over 25 hours because of obongocare
>>
>>70997145
Fuckin amazing.
Sadly, poor people eats so much shit that they end up in hospitals lots of time. At least we dont have so much obesity here.

Bit last time i went to the hospital, i had an appendicitus, tool the whole day to figure it out what theyre gonna do. Got my surgeyr in the evening, and the next day at noon, i was able to return home (with medication).
No payments, no bills, only for the meds that i was gonna get to a pharmacy. But yeah, fuckin amazing.
>>
>>71000153
I broke my elbow and had to move between three different fucking hospitals so fuck you

It is not great, but it works reasonbly well in Brazil. You get free injections and free meds if you cant afford then. The biggest problems are lack of resources and crowding

It's pretty good. Almost everything health related is free or refunded and doctors are really good for the most part.
>>
>>71000134
Man, you must not be trying very hard. I put my resume out on monday and had a full-time job by today. Full benefits in three month's time as well.
>>
broke my knee

got x-ray, bed care, surgery, physiotherapy for free

Had to wait about 2 weeks to get in for the surgery

knee works great, hurts a little sometimes, still weaker than other leg, but better than non-functioning knee.

And best of all, I'm not in permanent debt for the rest of my life.

is there some kind of mental disease in america where all americans assume everyone else will experience life exactly the same way they do?
>>
>>70997145
It's pretty good. Like someone else said, it's expensive for middle class, but still generally in the realm of affordable.

Shit can still be expensive outside of the general "must have" surgery. I work full time and freelance, and have recurrent medical issues. Medicare helps a bit, as does private health insurance. I pay taxes, all bills up front, some rebates. A fair chunk of $ but I Can continue working sane hours and I'm not destitute.

The primary terrifying thing about America is that we're I living there, I'd probably be living in fucking poverty by now, and my issues aren't even that bad. Not bc lazy or no health insurance, just bc its all ridiculously expensive.

Yeah, there are shitty ppl who take the system for a ride and yeah, the system is not perfect. But I don't fear a docs visit will bankrupt me, and I'm happy if my taxes go to subsidize the health of the nation rather than durrr less taxes I get to spend more money on dumb shit.

That said, mental health is still fucking expensive for those who need it. People who are really dealing with serious shit get some subsidized visits (like 10 a year) but it's still not within reach for a lot of people.
>>
>>70997145
Never had to pay anything in a hospital. Except for the parking..
>>
Hello, another burger here. It's pretty cool. I still pay a little extra for private insurance but I've made full use of the health care system while I've been living here.

After numerous attempts to an hero last year I finally sought help and had to spend almost four months in a clinic. Meds, treatment, housing, food, everything is covered. I don't have to pay anything outside of what I normally pay my taxes and insurance. After a few months I was even eligible to receive krankengeld until I returned to work (which I have).

Also - protection of the sick from unjust job loss.

>>70997145
On a side note, I got a sister in the U.S. who had kids and is looking to move back to Aus. I thought it might be because of kids med bills (they're healthy, but you never know) but actually bc they don't rate the U.S. Education system. Make of that what you will.

US Ed system is not great.

I went to a teeny tiny town public school, but basically if you showed up to class and played sports you got a B or better. I struggled in college because I never had had to do homework before or actually study before but I graduated in four years with a C average. I could have had better grades but I would have rather finished in four years and saved money on loans.

That's fucked mate. Good to hear you passed though, whatever people say about school being rote memorization and that, your early years do train you how to learn. Hard to pick that up later in life.

Makes me glad my neph and niece will be learning here. Aust has a pretty decent education industry.

I think healthcare should be free but not education. Poor people here just abuse the medical system anyway.

They go to the ER for every little problem they have, get taken of and get slapped with a massive bill they will likely never pay. Hurting the hospital and everyone who actually pays.

I had pneumonia last year and got hospitalized for a week. Got taken of and was sent home. Got a bill a week later, and the total cost of care was about $40,000. Thank fuck I still have my parents insurance.

From my experience it depends a lot of the hospital in question. Some are God-tier and others are meh-tier. I guess it's better than nothing either way.

I have private health insurance, I go to the Buenos Aires British Hospital (Private), but the Public (Free) Hospitals are decent if you don't mind waiting.
>>
for poor people i suppose it's quite amazing, for the rest of us, not so much

my mom died waiting in line for surgery. in america your lifespan during cancer is the longest in the world

you somehow end up paying for shit all the time even though it's "free" according to bernie and shillary

the doctors have zero sense of customer service because they cannot get fired. even if you call ahead and get an appointment you still end up waiting for an hour just to get a piece of paper that says you're allowed to purchase whatever it is you already knew you need

i stopped going to the doctor years ago

All the doctors and nurses I know are passionate about their job and believe in the NHS, including multiple family members. I would agree with the second part on most things, but not healthcare. I earn decent money and happily support the NHS, because I don't believe being born into a poor family should limit your chances of getting treatment. I would rather my taxes funded the saving of lives than an over-sized military.

All I can say is that not having if here is shitty

I recently had my appendix removed and if I didn't have insurance it would've cost $25,000 dollars.
