You stupid Americans, y'all are a bunch of temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

>>
>people work hard to become wealthy
You think they do but they don't. Not anyone can become wealthy. Wealth is not gained - wealth is inherited. Anyone can become rich.. fuck, millionaires are still nobodies compared to the billionaires. The true wealth as long as faggots like you defend it will never be broken off like chunks of ice and thrown back to burn in the sink of bottomless debt. The only way to fuck the system is to cut its head off - not keep digging into the mangled corpses pockets.

>I'm retarded and poor so everyone else should be too.
>>
>>70994545
How about being rich.
>>
>>70994449
That does in no way have anything to do with what I said.

How many hard working people do you see around you? And are they millionaires yet? The truth is, becoming a wealthy millionaire means having a stroke of luck which many people lack.

Bill Gates wasn't the smartest guy around, he did well with his company, but it was just like any other software company. Only when he landed a deal with IBM by pure luck did he become rich as fuck. Of course he had brains, and that helped, but he wouldn't have become a billionaire just by that alone. Many more operating systems existed at that time and they were much better than PC DOS.

And people will always strive to become wealthy. Having more money than others is always an incentive. "Oh no, I'll manage to buy only 14 luxury cars if I get rich instead of 15 because of taxes! Better NOT want to become rich!" - this is how your dumb face sounds like.
>>
Supporting a socialist system is literally advocating putting power in the hands of the least capable people in society.

1) Not lazy, just not intellectually curious. The fact that you're even here, debating with me, shows that you're intellectually curious. Why are you here, rather than studying something in STEM or business?

From a utilitarian standpoint, the people who just "study what they love" in their 20's will not be useful (as a whole, there will always be outliers) and therefore not wealthy.

2) A six figure salary can LEAD TO becoming wealthy if invested correctly, so yes.

Privatizing does indeed incentivize production efficiency but if you have a monopoly they have the power to maximize profits (by limiting supply) this leads to a higher net price for the consumer, lower availability and the private company pockets the gross profit margins.

How many hard working people do you see around you who are actively trying to better their lives every day?

Most are pretty content working as a wagefag and being hard working there and then using the rest of their time relaxing. A true self made millionaire spends his waking moments on productive efforts to better his life. Gates spent years working on DOS on his own time and then profited from it as well as his support.

Working hard ONLY matters when it's for yourself. How many 'hard workers' do you know have start ups going? Or how many are just "idea guys" or those waiting to come up with that "million dollar idea"

Sure, I could have bought Microsoft stock in the early 90s... I mean, I could have also gone to Vegas with that money. Is there a "correct" way to invest money? What could I do with 100k which I've accumulated over e.g. 5 years?

"Invested Correctly"

Literally read one single book on investing. Here, I'll recommend one to you: "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham.

Obviously when I say invested correctly I mean invested into ventures that will net you stable, consistent returns.
>>
>>70997390
>How many hard working people do you see around you who are actively trying to better their lives every day?
Plenty. If they weren't, there wouldn't be any "get rich" books out there. Hell, even Trump writes them.

>Gates spent years working on DOS on his own time and then profited from it as well as his support.
Err... Gates said he had "an operating system ready" for IBM. He didn't. He went off and bought it from Seattle Computer Products (SCP). He basically resold an operating system called PCDOS and rebranded it as MSDOS. And he wouldn't have even done that if it weren't for a stroke of luck when Gary Kildall from Digital Research drove IBM away.

>How many 'hard workers' do you know have start ups going?
I'm sorry I have to be the one to tell you this, but most startups fail. 90% of startups fail.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/neilpatel/2015/01/16/90-of-startups-will-fail-heres-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-10/#24192655e192

>>70997657
Okay, go ahead. I've got 100k, what should I invest in so I could get to the 1%? You're talking as if there's a clear path, and I don't believe that to be true.
>>
>>70997396
The "correct way" is the way that yields results over the long haul. It's not a matter of any one way, it's about being engaged to the idea of growing your wealth.

Devoting yourself to managing your finances and increasing cashflow is the goal. It is the result of adaptability, perseverance, and sacrifice; the entrepreneur fills in the details.

>>
>>70998033
I guess that depends on your definition of "rich" but I wont get into the weeds on this.

I've generated enough cashflow that I don't stress about bills or emergency expenses. I made 112k last year at 22 so while that may not be wealthy, I managed to get this far by learning from people who are millionaires.

What I'm saying if winning the lottery is off the table, your ONLY chance to become rich is to change the way your mind thinks, and to change your daily habits. Most self-made millionares are new money, and they're no different than you or me. If you look at the things they've done to get there, more often than not, it's things you or I could do.

In a true command economy they sure can be. Even a slightly mixed command/market economy it is possible. But when there are barriers to entry that come from legislation and driving out other competing business with initial lower prices and then gouging the market when the competition leaves makes the rise to the top very hard. These are only two examples of how the very wealthy can make it so they stay on top, and prime examples of the crony capitalism that gets confused with capitalism.

I think many in the Bernie camp are mad at crony capitalism or corporatism and conflate the two resulting in misplaced anger.

The effect you're talking about exists but not when the wealthy are paying an effective tax rate of in many cases 15% or less (most of their income is taxed at the capital gains rate). It just depends what your definition of "taxing the shit" out of them is. I'd say 70%-75% effective tax rate on the 1% is probably the Goldilocks zone where taxes are just high enough to maximize revenue without hurting the economy.

fastest way to bolster an economy is to give poor people money because they spend it all.

A democracy implies that everyone is smart enough to know what is the best choice to make.
Some people, unfortunately, are misinformed and bought-out.
In a land of no wrong answers, theirs is.

he's just increasing the % of profits taxed.
You still want to make more money regardless, because you'll make more money.

besides you are not rich, OP. And you'd still want to be rich under his plan

Also why would they stay in the country. If you tried to take a lot of my money I'd leave for sure, move my business as well if you mandated 15 minimum wage.

Flat tax rate us really the only thing that is honestly fair.

Rich people seriously bitching about having less money?

>Boo-hoo-abloo, how can I ever live on less than $100k a year???

Seriously though, anybody having that much wealth while other citizens live in squalor is just unethical. It is unethical that it is allowed.

Congratulations, you're at around the top 7-9%. Your age is largely irrelevant here, though you might make it to the top 1% if you work your ass off until you retire... maybe. The top 1% consists of specialist doctors, hedge fund managers, and so on. You know, people with lobbyists artificially cutting competition in their field and artificially inflating demand by legally mandating their presence where they're not needed. You're not quite rich, but you're sort of in the upper-middle class. So long as your area doesn't have lobbyists artificially inflating the cost of living near you, as they do in the Bay Area, you might be able to live comfortably.
