I know a guy who is 1/8 Irish and has literally become an alcoholic because he thinks it's who he's supposed to be
we live in a small town and he has no friends. He wasn't peer pressured by Irishmen or family to drink. He just wanted to be Irish so bad that he started going to pubs alone and drinking a minimum of 6 pints a night, probably goes through 20 on a weekend.

I'm a quarter Irish and didn't drink until I was 24. I was scared shitless because no one on that side of my family could hold their booze. I still don't drink much. There are probably some biological factors, but a lot of it is a mental condition.
