How is this even science?
>>
I'll repost the OP I made for the other thread, I spent too much time typing and not enough time posting. LONG LIVE THIS THREAD, THE FIRST AND RIGHTFUL THREAD!

> Scientists say major earthquake may be close at hand, based on massive increase in seismic activity around the Pacific rim:

http://www.express.co.uk/news/science/661052/SCIENTISTS-fear-the-Big-One-is-COMING-as-four-major-earthquakes-strike-in-48-hours

But lets not just obsess of today. Quakes WILL happen, eventually. Are we ready? Are we hoping somewhere else isn't? And how the hell did San Francisco get destroyed by a quake BEFORE becoming infested with gays and liberals? It just isn't fair.

Useful links:

> USGS seismograph readings for California
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/monitoring/helicorders/nca/

> USGS quake map (Zoom out and change settings to 2.5+ past 7 days for a better view of trends)
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/

> Live stream of a siesmogram in LA
http://abc7.com/live/23343/

I don't really know what should go in the OP but if anyone has good links for news, data, preparedness, and stuff like that, def post it.

I have some low quality, but somewhat rare videos from Loma Prieta I was able to extract from CHP training videos, containing some unique footage of structural failures around the bay. I'll post a few to get the thread going.

Pic is the 1906 quake, before the fire reached the waterfront.

And here's a shitty meme.

Anyone here living in the Cascadia zone? We've been having a lot of odd activity in Humboldt and Del Norte -- we had a "Non-Quake" which pushed the coastline up nearly 2 inches along 100 miles, but didn't shake violently. Increased activity at Lassen and Long Valley as well.

Man I remember when I was 10 during the 1994 NorthRidge quake.

>My parents rushed to my bedroom.
>Father jumps on me screaming louder than my mom.
>He's butt ass naked.
>Earthquake passes and we run outside.
>Other neighborhood dad is naked too standing in the street.
>Neighbors are too shaken up to care about both of them.
>Dad doesn't trust going back into the house.
>Dad gets the garden hose.
>Manhole covers are on fire.
>Spends 15 minutes trying to put out the fires with the garden hose.
>Other naked neighbor is telling his family to get into the car.
>Moms screaming at dad to put pants on and head to grandpa's house a couple blocks away.
>Dad didn't give a fuck.
>Dad just tucks it under has hes trying to be the neighborhood hero.
>The sky had a auburn green haze to it with a million stars in the sky.

Someone mentioned Northridge, here's Newhall Pass after that. Or maybe after the San Fernando one. It fell down both times.

I woke up today to gunshots and a woman screaming.
Happens that 3 niggers tried to assault the local supermarket and the owner shot two of them in the face, but the other one killed him and left with the money.
Don't you dare complain about the fucking soil shaking. You know nothing, Chile.

On 3/11, there had been a big (in terms of magnitude) a few days before, so people were a little edgy. The early alert system in my office building started blaring, but not from the phones, oddly enough. It hit and swayed pretty hard for a few minutes, and started dying down, when there was a sudden massive vertical jolt, and V-tec basically kicked in. I had been holding out big coffee brewer, but gave up and went under my desk. It was shaking so bad that it was actually more dangerous there (smacked into my head a few times, my neighbor's desk rolled over completely.) Went on for about 5 minutes before it stopped, aftershocks were non-stop for weeks, and there are still quakes considered aftershocks to this day (over 10,000 to date).

>>

I've been in a 6.9 that lasted 3 minutes, but I was on the 3rd story of a rickity illegal marijuania growhouse on the side of a hill, so it was pretty bad.

It's loud. Louder than you expect. Painfully loud, everywhere, inside you, around you, no escape.

You're moving up and left and down and back and right and forward. I got outside to the ground (structure was basically shaking to bits) and it was the same.

I saw waves. In the road. Water got knocked out of a bucket at my feet, thrown into the air and over to the side... and changed directions and landed back in the same bucket, and I realized the water had gone straight up and I WAS THE ONE moving side to side.

Then a water main exploded and our neighbors started shooting of fireworks and chugging vodka.

The quake continued for another minute or so. I sat on the front step and lit a cig and waited to die in a landslide.

But I didn't, and know I have to wait for the next one and hope that kills me because life is pain and empty.

That sounds fucking horrifying, so it shook that badly for 5 consecutive minutes nonstop?

See the difference between Japan and America is that Japan has a far more strict building code to withstand earthquakes. Here in America, Earthquakes aren't common so our buildings are far more vulnerable to collapsing.

Once the "big one" hits, i'm going outside immediately.

If your home was built in the last decade Washington upped their safety code a bunch.

The biggest issue is all those cheap apartments built on stilts over parking spots. They're everywhere in LA and in an 8.0+ they have something like a 60% failure rate.

1.7 million people live in buildings like that out west.

This big one is coming. Why isn't mainstream media reporting this!

http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2016/04/boiling-river-near-yellowstone-national-park-heats-worries/

>A river near Yellowstone National Park suddenly changed colors and began to boil and emit yellowish noxious gases. The Shoshone River runs through Cody, Wyoming, just east of Yellowstone National Park. It’s close enough to be a ‘canary in a coal mine’ for unusual geothermic events and that’s precisely what happened on March 25th when photographer Dewey Vanderhoff spotted the Shoshone River mysteriously boiling.

Here we go folks....

> Why isn't mainstream media reporting this

Because South Africa turned down our multi-billion dollar offer to buy their country and relocate the east coast there after Yellowstone, so they have no contingency plan anymore and don't want people to panic.

Remember, Cascadia or Yellowstone will be the opening of World War 3. It's the only chance China will ever get to attack the mainland and claim a foothold on the West Coast during the chaos. A few high altitude nuclear blasts will destroy what little electrical and communication systems we have left. Once they have the coast down from Alaska to Astoria, they can basically D-Day millions of troops in under the cover of destruction and act as "saviors" with aid... for those who pledge loyalty.

Everyone else? Well, murdered, but if you have a vagina, raped first.

Nothing happens in a vacuum. Great destruction is another nations great opportunity.

If you're from Washington like me you're basically fucked. It'll be so disasterous because it could easily trigger Mt Rainier to erupt which by itself will be the biggest natural disaster in America's history. Combine that with a massive 9.0 earthquake and you're talking well over a trillion dollars in damage, possibly several trillion.

So if you're safe from the damage you won't be from the taxes necessary to help us. We'll be literally relying on government supply rations for many months.

Forgot the second part of that post, evidence shows quakes start up north then migrate south. So Alaska - Cascadia - San Andraes, usually about 50 years apart.

Good Friday was in 64. We've been having forshocks for 3 years now.

Oddly, 1906 wasn't part of this cycle. Some scientists now think it was actually caused by all the silt and debris running out of the Sierra during the gold rush, when they were blasting mountains apart with water cannons to look for shiny metal. It all washed into the bay, added several million tons to the weight of the crust in the area, and literally broke the fault and triggered a quake.

Sometimes I wonder if this catastrophe is so devastating that it could quite literally shift the entire culture of America permanently. Especially if California gets fucked, particularly Hollywood which would completely disassemble all that filth and scum plagued in that area.

The ghetto barbarians will completely collapse since they don't have a sense of community, most blacks will just steal food and TVs even though the grid is down. Most will probably starve in back alley ways.

Hopefully the farming communities will stay strong to provide the food for the entire west coast, but if that goes down then mass starvation will occur. If the ports aren't too damaged other nations could donate food, but it would take a toll from their economy severely since the west coast won't export anything.

You're on /pol/ so you have a head start in knowing this news before the earthquake actually happens.

Stock up before the panic and looting starts, and don't forget to arm yourself and secure your house. There will be killing for basic necessities like food, water and gasoline for generators or for a car if you need to ditch town early.

I would also suggest studying road maps. Find paths you can go if you have to flee. Because all the major freeways will be clogged. Godspeed anon.
