Asking this again. Do not mind the copy and paste.

This has been on my mind, what if the coalition stopped providing air support to the Kurds in Syria and Iraq, and the regular Iraqi armed forces... Effectively ending all aerial campaigns the Islamic state... How do you see the civil war in Syria and the war in Iraq playing out? As it stands, Kurds were only able to hold out against the Islamic state in due part because of the coalition, had the coalition never intervened ayn al-arab would have been captured and much of North Aleppo would have fallen to the Islamic state as would hasaka province. So, what do you see happening if coalition just bails out

As far as I know the Kurds are able to stand alone. All of the units we know of theirs are pretty much equal to a Republican Guard unit, and they are able to constantly hand ISIS or anyone else's ass in a defensive battle. As far as I know, they've only ever needed air support when trying to take land, and even then, not always.

People always say that NATO did so wrong by getting rid of Qaddafi, but they don't understand that the war was already 100% going by the time NATO intervened, and if we hadn't removed Qaddafi, the war would have gone on, with more jihadis coming in from everywhere, Qaddafi using his air force to bomb everything and sub-Saharan African mercenaries to punish people who were against him. Basically it would have become Syria 2.0

Instead, it's fucked up and a pretty crazy place, but not completely destroyed.

this is a dumb meme. He would have suppressed them in many places and taken much land back but he wouldn't have just destroyed them. It would have been the same as Assad's battles in late 2011-early 2012. The rebels could have gone underground and done guerrilla resistance, fled into Tunisia and Egypt to do cross border strikes (both would have protected them, especially Tunisia)and fled deeper into the Sahara.

KSA, UAE and Qatar and Turkey would have backed them regardless of what the US did, sending weapons and money in via Tunisia and Sudan. Jihadis would have made it a destination like they did with Syria. Even if Qaddafi managed to fully pacify Benghazi all of this would have happened.

An easy win for Qaddafi is, literally, a meme

The Rebels were isolated in Benghazi and it was an orchestrated manvouer too, similar protests happened in 2006 which were instantley ended, this was all planned, it was Frances way to end Qaddafi Gold Dinar plan since if he succeeded Africa will be come too strong and the French currency would have lost alot of its power.

the first thing the rebels did was open the prisons which had contained many Al Qaeda members captured by Qaddafi, also they had extremely advanced weapons from the Get Go, NATO didnt just intervene from the beginning, they orchestrated the whole thing, Gaddafi never had a chance and urged his people to not fall for the mind games of the west

This is absolutely true.

If it wasn't for their still rather large capacity for important AND excessive money printing (there is literally a 10,000 yen bill in common circulation) they would have gone bust long ago. But the problem is, the only thing that the money printing does is kick the bust down the road, but not only that - it ensures that the bust will be just THAT much bigger.

A relatively similar thing is happening in America, by the way. But America isn't going bust yet for similar reasons, plus the petrodollar, the military-industrial complex, etc. etc.

>The Japanese economy has been sinking for quite some time.

It's stagnant. But it should be crashing. It should be exhibiting 1920s stock market crash levels of economic instability and social upheaval. Yet it doesn't. Sure it isn't growing, but not failing is what confuses economists.

>Why would Argentina be the ideal place to have an economy?
Large population. Good resources and a reasonably educated population. Shares a language with the rest of Latin America. Has a good natural port to ship goods to and from. And there actually is a lot of capital in the nations (but it keeps disappearing).
But it doesn't manage to become a fully developed nation. It's trailing behind Chile and Brazil. The latter of which is a huge surprise to economists.

I am a parts sourcer for a company here. I find shit that clients need and get it cheap. Which means I look globally since shipping costs are quite low. I have not once found a part for anything needed in Argentina, but I keep finding it in Chile.

Argentina is basically Latin America's Spain or Portugal.

You're looking at it wrong.

Japan has no innovation, their business model is fucking retarded, the social politics dominate business culture to the point of dangerous indecisiveness with a crippling lack of risk taken in anything, something that should destroy their economy with mind blowing stagnation.

They live on a rocky island with no natural resources and terrible farmlands, the latter causes Japan to rely on food imports in numbers that would make Africa blush.

And finally, they have one of the lowest valued currencies in the world, but instead of either moving to hyperinflation (like Hungary or Zimbabwe) or creating a new fiat currency to start from square one (like China), they just dealt with it and stabilized it in a middle ground that would be dangerous and untenable for other countries. They even recovered from the massive 1990's bubble that should have created a depression. It was a light recession.

Meanwhile Argentina is the opposite in all of these things, and yet their ability to fail miserably time and time again is baffling and marvelous at the same time.

When faced with economic issues that are anthills compared to the 1995 and tech bubble crisis that Japan endured, Argentina collapses miserably.

It's like the weeks where the stock markets lower 100 points compared to the house market bubble popping. Argentina manages to turn them into economic devastation.

They don't do anything right, and they have all the advantages pushing them towards the right path, but they cannot stop fucking up. They're a mother carrying home groceries. They hit a small crack in the sidewalk and lose it all on the fall.

Argentina is a fool sitting on a mountain of gold but starving to death. Japan is a blind man living on top of a mountain, but his thirst is always quenched and he lives comfortably overweight in his precarious home.

To comment on the Japan point (again, I reiterate that I know nothing of Argentina except for their blatant cultural appropriation of whiteness):

Regardless of your fairly valid criticisms of Japan, it all comes down to brass tacks:

Japan still has a large export capacity. (mostly because of America being a black hole of demand, but also of other countries - I can bet that any user of 4chan, of any flag has seen, in real life, a car with "Toyota" on it)
Japan is printing money like (literally) crazy, which, as I said, cushions their fall, saving everyone from bankruptcy __NOW__. I can't stress that enough. Eventually, it'll have to hit the bottom, and the pit they are digging as we speak is getting deeper and deeper and deeper.

Already, we are seeing signs of cracks in the system. Abe's Abenomics have recently received criticism of promising growth but delivering more debt. More and more people are driven into poverty (relatively - we're not talking Philippines level poverty in any way).

I don't know if Japan even holds any "reserves" or if such a thing is a foreign concept to them at this point, but their position is precarious indeed.

And yet their precarious situation, one they've been in for over 2 decades, is somehow working out. Their inflation rate is actually great compared to other countries.

The money printing aspect is overblown to nearly non existent. The 1970's is where this whole thing started, and yet they managed to solidify it even through a time period with 2 financial crisis (directly affecting Japan) in 5 years.

Abe's Abemomics should be severely damaging, but it's just another bump in the road for them. The Japanese collapse has been predicted since the 90's but has never manifested.

The criticism that the export market is keeping them afloat is a bullshit statement that comes from a lot of people. They should be correct, but it's not what keeps the Japanese economy afloat, it's a foundation of their economy. It's something they built and maintained, and something copied by China (albeit poorly because they don't live in a paradox) that precipitated their rise into one of the richest nations on earth.

Argentina didn't have to build themselves like Japan did. Japan rose from a feudal isolationist nation 40 years after Argentina became a nation. They only became a fully modern country with a modern economy after world war 2, and they had to rebuild their nation to do it. Argentina went from laziness to stagnation to full retardation despite their head start.

And your criticisms of Japan are just as valid as everyone else's. Everything you say should be correct.

The end result is that it's wasted effort. The predictions have never been right, and Japan should have failed a hundred times over in the last 40 years alone.

Do what everyone else does. Shrug and marvel at them. It's a complete waste to explain and rationalize the unexplainable and irrational.

I don't like this meme.

The rebels still have TOW 2's. They're still recieving TOW 2's.

Just because the picture says otherwise does not discount the evidence. The fact that Iglas and now modern stingers have showed up in the hands of the rebels and Isis can not be explained away by a simple picture.

And also, they are sending fagots and then faktorias, also fagots. The listing is just like the packing list on humanitarian aid sent to Pakistan full of stingers for the muja.

Also like the southern air services transports.

They don't disguise it very well, but at a quick glance it would rarely raise people's suspicions. Even then, nobody has questioned why there's so many fucking American weapons in Syria. The few that do are ignored. Nobody of power seems to care in the slightest.

And normal people don't have the numbers to do a single thing about it either. It's an election year, and even something major like this, a thing which dwarfs the Iran contra affair, is not cared about in the slightest.

Almost.

I'm not shrugging and appreciating that Japan is a powerhouse.

It makes no sense, and no amount of effort wasted in a single lifetime will unravel the mystery of why they continue to not collapse.

You're shrugging your shoulders an marveling not at their powerhouse success, but because you're saving the effort other people waste in trying to explain an incomprehensible nightmare of impossibility that somehow exists and continues to do so.

It's a monolith that continues to stand perfectly without so much as a scratch. Some people think it's a challenge, that solving the mystery is necessary. People have spent their lives trying to figure it out.

Others think it's a rock. It's a nice rock, but it's a rock.

It's like taking LSD and trying to explain the impossible hallucinations you saw based on the logic of your now sober mind.

It doesn't make sense, it's not supposed to make sense, and it will never make sense. It's impossible but exists.

You shrug an marvel at it like people marvel at optical illusions. It's impossible so it's interesting.

That's how it was described to me by an economics professor who lived in Japan and married a Japanese woman.

I would like to think the nukes broke something like the universal rationality that exists elsewhere. That would be cool.

The model they have right now is purely a demonstrator. It is too small to carry weapons. The real version will need to be much bigger if they decide to commit to the project. Boeing and Lockheed-Martin are both very interested in working with Mitsubishi on the project and they're engaging in talks with the Japanese government now. They've done some runway tests and actual flight testing is set for a month from now. That's all we know.

There's not enough out on the F-3 to give an opinion. The drawing board means nothing.

But the X-2 is really nice. I'm a huge fan of tech demonstration platforms.

Nothing will ever beat the F-15 ACTIVE

That was too cute and too amazing.

The 3D thrust vectoring using the paddles is incredibly interesting, and paired with the fiber optic wiring (something that should have been done on every jet a long time ago), you can make quicker maneuvers and decrease the initial turn radius, as well as produce a psychotic angle of attack at the same time.

The only limiting factors are pilots and the strength of the airframe. Also the fact that the cheap but efficient thrust vectoring will absolutely have issues with reliability. Expect to see things changed with that, and possibly even see catastrophic failure with the system during a flight.

They will likely remove it, as it fucks with the stealth and will have issues on par with the X-31. There's a reason the paddle based 3D thrust vectoring was dropped as a concept. I really hope they fix the issues and it stays however.

>mfw 100 degree angle of attack soon

If the pilot and airframe can take it, imagine how that would work when paired with the AIM 9X? It would be ridiculous.

The future skies could be filled with pilots showing each other a little trick they learned dozens of times in an air battle. We cartoon now.

7000 polling booths were opened across the country. 11, 341 candidates were proposed from across Syria with 250 to be elected to Parliament, including a number of female candidates.

>Contrary to spurious claims from western governments and media, efforts were made to open the voting to all Syrian civilians including those who have fled terrorists held areas.

“The idea that there could be elections is not just provocative but totally unrealistic. It would be proof that there are no negotiations or discussions [in Geneva].”~ Francois Hollande

US State Department spokesperson Mark Toner said that the US “would view those elections as not legitimate in the sense that they don’t represent… the will of the Syrian people.
“So, to hold parliamentary elections now, given the current circumstances, given the current conditions in the country, we believe is at best premature and not representative of the Syrian people,” Toner said.

>Mach 2.5

Mach 3.2, and then the engine melts.

The SR-71 is a little more impressive in my book because nobody actually knows what the max speed is. A comfortable flight in excess of Mach 3.5 from Shull evading missiles in Libya is the best we are going to get.

Nobody really knows how fast she could have gone. The mig 25 melting her turbojets had a problem like that as well. To go fast enough to melt turbojets is psychotic.

They're all post stall maneuvers like the cobra. They're not controllable angles of attack.

A 100 degree angle of attack while retaining full controllable flight would be psychotic. The X-31 was capable of a comfortable 70 degrees, while the super maneuverable F-18 was capable of 65 with 70 pushing it. The F-35 is locked at 50 degrees and is only capable of the high angles of attack in testing.

It's like doing the extreme cobra compared to doing half of the extreme cobra and then just flying at the 100+ degrees you pushed your plane into. There is no stall.

That's the crazy shit that can happen in the future with fly by optic and the paddle thrust vectoring.

Put on the eurobeat, because we are about to take initial D into the skies.

To be fair, Migs also had to carry missiles and shit while going fast, not just cameras. And another thing i read recently is that americans had to use dummy companies to buy titanium from USSR

The Mig was an interceptor.

The blackbird was a fast. It was the definition of speed which had taken a corporeal form.

And let's not forget that the Mig was created by mere mortal men.

The Blackbird was created by a God who, in his reverence, came down to earth to hand craft this beast and claim domain over not only the Earth and the stars above, but even concepts like velocity, friction, and gravity.

They actually did make an interceptor version of the SR-71 called the YF-12. The plane was slightly bigger than the blackbird to make room for holding missiles inside. The project was eventually cancelled when somebody realized that a plane that requires 20 hours of prep-time before it can take-off would never work as an interceptor. However, the missiles developed for the system continued to be developed and became the Pheonix missile system that served as the primary weapon for the F-14 Tomcat.

And yes this plane was actually built.

I'm not going fanboy over the blackbird.

Kelly Johnson was a god. The Mig 25 and the SR-71 are some of the most incredible feats of human engineering.

And their first flights were in 1964.

The Blackbird really was speed incarnate. It leaked fuel on the ground because it's design accounted for thermal expansion. It had to refuel after it took off.

While refueling, the tanker had to move at its max speed, something dangerous for the boom operation, and the blackbird had to move at a cripplingly slow speed where it was prone to engine blowouts and stalling. It's design was that specialized.

The fact that nobody knows what the max speed of the aircraft was, and if there even was a max speed, just makes it more incredible. It's criminal that no psycho pilot didn't just throw the hammer down until the engines (or airframe) broke. It's possible that the Aircraft would have disintegrated in the atmosphere like the space shuttle before the engines stopped accelerating the plane. Modern jets are a frightening thing when you realize there are more than a few that still do not have a max speed.

But Kelly Johnson was indeed a God. You simply cannot argue. It's just a fact.
