I don't own one primarily because I'd shoot all the ammo I have for it on day one. Then I'd either have a paperweight or I'd need more ammo, which I'd proceed to shoot all of.
Thinking about buying an archery bow though. Need another outdoor activity and it fits the bill. Also if some shit went down it would be badass to clear the situation via bow and arrow.

Combat serviceable usually means not covered in shit that will break, or that cheese-grater crap on the barrel shroud.
Rifles are not used to kill people in "combat". You move people, pin people, irritate people, harry people but wounding is highly uncommon and killing someone with a rifle shot is stunningly rare.
Modern "combat rifles" are popguns. In all modern conflict or paramilitary action people are by vast majority killed with heavy weapons, crew operated weapons or explosives.
The thread should really be asking why people do not own grenades.
