Is there any truth to the theory that Syrian refugees are being housed at CF bases in order to be given weapons training in secret?
>>
I wanted to be an airforce pilot when I was a kid.

Then I grew up and I think I'm too tall. I also wear glasses so that's out.

Now I'm about to graduate with a degree in chemistry and I feel like I want to join the military. It was something I wanted to do for forever but I feel like I would wash out quickly. I'm not fat or anything, but I feel like it wouldn't be for me.

Nah, we hardly got any refugees and the ones we did get were women and children. i think the height cutoff is like 6'4 or 6'5, and you can still pilot with glasses as long as your vision is within a certain range, you can also get a waiver for certain kinds of laser surgery

You probably shouldn't answer ITT, but I do hope you have a psychological tipping point at which you'd defect or become a mole-in-place. There's no way this country's cucked civilians could ever stand a chance against the state if it decided to go rogue. We would need trained fighters on our side.

He is a weird fuck. The only two occasions in which Harper has been seen in public since leaving Parliament were both in the United States. He probably literally has paranoid personality disorder in the clinical sense.

A cop? Nice.

General rule of thumb for anyone out there, stay as far away from the flightline as possible, the exception being if you actually fly. Don't accept a job that involves maintenance or an ASVAB score in any area that is less than 60.
Just don't do it, you'll hate your life. Also, consider coming in as an officer.

A total shit-show if you do anything related to maintenance. You'll probably work and live with knuckle dragging mongoloids for your first 4-10 years, but if you make it long enough to retire you'll be set before you're 40 depending on how old you are now.
>>
>>70967635
no if you dont want to do it you wont be joining .doesn't matter if you go guard or reserve or even officer you still have to do basic like everyone else
>>
>>70967428

Were you in the military? Also, how do I prepare for the ASVAB?
>>
>>70967548
Tacp and all other special forces actually had to work to earn their berets they hold them in high regard I'm sure. Also I'm pretty sure they don't wear them as often as we do. They deploy a lot and whenot not deployed they train which I'm fairly certain they don't wear berets when training. We use our berets every day when we work.
>>
>>70967812
the asvab test will pretty much tell you what your strong points and weak points are. after you take it you sit down with your recruiter and go over a list of jobs you "qualify" for.
>>
>>70967923
>Were you in the military?
Yes.

There are study guys, like ASVAB for dummies and such. I didn't study and made a pretty mediocre score. I didn't give a fuck either, and landed a pretty easy job, but you don't want an easy job. You want the hardest one you are capable of to avoid being surrounded by morons and lazy check collectors.

there are practice ones online you can take, as well as books filled with hundreds of them, it's fairly easy, I think I got a 135 score, 97 percentile, told me I could do any job in the Army including maintenance and I can barely identify a wrench.

>>

They have, but most have found accommodation either through the city or by families. There was a story on here maybe 2 or 3 days ago about two refugee kids choked a girl in grade 3 with a chain shouting "muslims will rule the world" or something like that. But the majority were moved to the GTA area.

Also, how would go about doing Air Traffic Control or being a Drone Operator? I really have no interest at all with being a mechanic.

It's really just a common sense test. If you graduated high school there is no reason you can't make at least a 90. Hell, I made a 93 with a massive hangover.
>>
Is a security forces officer a good choice?
>>
>>70961589
I've had several people in my family go into the Air Force, and they all say that it was easy as fuck. Most of them are career and relatively high rank, so they basically just tell people what to do and sit around signing papers all day.

Is there anything good to start a career there? Not really. Unless they get you flying helicopters or repairing helis/jets, you have zero career prospects out of the Air Force that doesn't pay minimum wage.

One of my friends went into the Marines and people were falling all over him to get him hired when he got out, 'cause I guess apparently they think he's got stronger credentials than other applicants 'cause he was part of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children and not one of the other groups.

So, honestly, if you want an armed forces group to join that'll have career prospects post-service, you can pick whatever the hell you want. The trick is getting them to put you into a job that gets you trained FOR a career, usually anything involving fucking around with air/land vehicles, radar/radio, electricity, or demolition. Alternatively, you could stay and make a career of the armed forces.

If they plan to stick you as an MP or some other shit job, fake your death or run away to Mexico.
>>
>>70968180
If you need to study for an ASVAB you should just kill yourself. It's a basic common sense test.

>>
>>70968632
When you say bunker I think your under the impression I'm deployed. To clarify I go to a missle field and provide security for minute man 3 launch facility's while they undergo maintenance operations.
>>
>>70966874
That stuff can be pretty fun, it's just like school.
>>
>>70969774
It's 10 categories, but the things that count are the arithmetic and language. There's shit like solving weird shape puzzles and shop and engine questions. It basically just grasps a line of what you're good at.
That being said the test is really only important where it counts. For example if you want to be a mechanic you need to test well in the specific categories that the branch that you are joining has decided you need to test well in. I joined to be a infantryman in the army. The only thing I really needed to test well in was the CO portion. Overall the test is really fucking easy. If you can read, do basic math, and tell a hammer from a wrench you'll get any job you want if your joining army. Other branches won't let you pick your job though. So depending on necessity for the job and where you did well on the test you'll be told what job you're doing unless you're joining army.
>>
>>70969132
If you want to go as maintance do yourself a favor and choose a specialist job. Dont fall for the crew cheif meme of having your name on the side of the plane etc. Intergrated avionics on heavys (not fighter jets) all the way.
>>
>>70969924
They'll let you take a practice one. If you do shit on that, hit the books and brush up, though most of it's high school level shit. Unless you were a huge fucking retard and slept in all your classes, you should be just fine.

I scored high enough on the ASVAB when I was considering going into the Navy that they were ready to drop me into a nuclear submarine doing reactor work.

I say this as a mostly C/B student throughout my entire life. The ASVAB is piss easy, and you should consider offing yourself if you don't get high enough to at least land yourself a job maintaining vehicles.

>But anon, why did you turn them down?
They basically wanted me to lose a ton of weight and I didn't lose enough in time, so I guess they gave up on me. I'm sure someone got fired for it, but who knows?

Hit the gym, lift weights, do a ton of cardio. If you're not beating your previous record every other day, then you're in trouble. If you're too poor to afford a few months of a gym membership, do body weight exercises and don't slack off. My Marine friend said boot/basic was cake because he decided to hit the gym to supplement recruitment PT.

Whether or not he's full of shit is anyone's guess, but it can't hurt to look good going in.

>The thing is most others got a fucking 15.
The trick is that the ASVAB isn't really a test of intelligence, more of a test of common sense/knowledge. Most people don't do a fucking thing out of High School and likely didn't have anyone to teach them any skills that could have been useful. Likewise, it goes without saying that most people don't have any fucking common sense, so it doesn't surprise me people make scores that low.

Definitely right. Op you should really lift and work out. Get in shape and stay in shape or you're going to stay in medhole for months while you're there. You don't want that. Don't get hurt either else medhole.

The hardest thing there is studying to get a good score on your end of course exam. You don't have much relax time. Because even when you are standing in formation you will study you're bmt book they give you.

It is just I don't retain the information well, I can do the math if I have notes, but with out them I can do math for shit. Which is why I am worried about Sub school, I know it is very math intensive, and I don't do well in testing environments without notes.

If I wanted to go career army, I'd consider it. I don't have that hatred for POGs like people shitpost about.

I just consider the infantry to be the most complete way to do my service. Anything else would be inadequate to me, half measures. I don't think duty involves sitting at a desk taking pressure readings on the new Corps of Engineers bridge.
>>
>>70975337
Not an Air Force related question, but one pertaining to the Army's Warrant Officer Candidate School. Basically, score 110 on the ASVAB and the Army will let you fly any of their helicopters that you qualify in with NO college required, no commission required. You're instead commissioned as a Warrant Officer.

Anyways, how hard is it to get that job and score high enough to be taken for that job, and how stressful is Army life as a helicopter pilot? With WOCS and Ft. Rucker involved?
>>
>>70974715
are u 18? if not why are you even on 4chan. if you are, why do you need your parents permission?
>>
>>70975960
I did a bunch of research on the WOFT program before I decided against it.

The biggest hurdle is just the sheer time it takes. You have to wait up to six months before you can take the SIFT or AFAST test. That's the general aptitude test that you study up for. If you can get a 90% or better on it, which is the base threshold to continue, it takes two years before the review board will get back to you on whether you've been accepted into the program. That's two years at home, going to school or whatever, not knowing how you did. THEN you get your contract and go to basic. All in all, it can be a 3+ year process. Don't plan on doing it unless you're patient. I'm not patient.

Might try to switch MOS to 15X when I'm done with my first run, though.
>>
>>70975960
To put things into perspective:

>23 years old
>Law enforcement

How fucked am I? I'm studying helicopter flying currently, civilian-wise.
>>
>>70975828
I'd say just do it to get it out your system. You'll regret it as you get older. You could also be a reservist instead.
>>
>>70976287

i also got a 98 on the asvab and a 136 GT. i enlisted 11b. i would recommend signing up for 11b with Ranger option, or 18x if you really want to do a combat job.
>>
>>70975591
>Officers are basically middle-managers today. If I like being in the army enough I can always go to OCS when I re-up, but I want to start out on the ground floor.

If you aren't up for consideration as an officer when you enlist, then fair enough for sticking with it that long. But don't waste your time being enlisted. Pay and benefits are worse. And the more people you have above you, the worse shit is.
Plus officers earn the big bucks and get great retirement benefits.
>>
>>70974715
don't fuck yourself over by going infantry, it's not nearly as cool as you imagine.

if you're serious about joining then you better put that degree to use and become an officer.
>>
>>70976513
healthy relationship or not it's your life to live
>>
>>70975591
Again, if you want a cool combat job, go Ranger batt or sf. A regular army infantry unit is going to make you want to kill yourself.

And don't go officer just for the pay. They don't make 'big bucks' and you'll never get to do any of the cool shit you want becau.e like someone else said you'll be busy managing
>>
>>70976520

When I graduated college I had no luck finding jobs, so while living with my parents I tried to join the airforce but was overweight by about 7 lbs. They also pissed me off by being closed randomly when it was a 30 minute drive over to their office, and then they lost my ASVAB test that they shouldn't have let me take before weighing me.

So I went over to the navy to join up with them, but got hired for a real job before I got to ship off and now I'm making fat stacks.

Not sure why I'm rambling about shit nobody cares about, just make sure your bmi is good before you go OP.

I'm reasonably buttpleased in how it turned out. I'm making $70k at 25 in a decently affordable city, exactly where I wanted to live (charleston SC). I could be richer, but I could also be working harder.

I passed the ASTB and was waiting around on some list when I got called up by one of the big companies I'd applied for and decided it would be foolish to give up the opportunity.

Retard. Officers don't go through the same basic training as enlisted. It's been a while, 120 something. What makes it a good job?

You are probably learning a camel fucker language too aren't you?

my buddy goes to school and is a crew chief. school is hard to juggle with the AF but take 1-2 classes at a time and enjoy your time in the service. don't burn out or try to rush anything. whatever you don't finish will get paid for afterwards with your 9/11 bill.

the air force works the way all jobs work. if you do something you love, every day is interesting. if you just aren't interested then it will suck.

the military is downsizing and saving money, but linguists are pretty much the only non-combat AFSC/MOS that still get bonuses.

What makes it the best IMO is that you get paid to live in Monterey and learn a language from native speakers. You won't find that anywhere else in the world. For 8 hours a day for 32-64 months, you will learn a language straight from the source.

The jobs for every branch are cool. All of it is classified and it's not scrub work. It's hard to get in, but they take care of you if you make it (1/3 washout, mostly because they are lazy/medical issues/PT tests).

Afterwards, you can get your 6-digit salary as a civilian and the opportunities are crazy. Some people become english teachers in their target languages. CIA will hire you. NSA will hire you.

you also get an associate's if you graduate DLI and take a couple CLEP tests

tl;dr

>What makes it a good job?

money, a second language, you won't be a boring grunt

Wow I got an 88 but it looks like you scored higher than me on almost everything

If my wife is a doctor should I bother enlisting/commissioning?

I don't need money and I don't need to do anything that I don't want to do, like babysit 150 kids as a Lieutenant or work 12-16 hour days for years straight.

Thanks, that does sound pretty good

>not being a boring grunt
