Children do. Which is why most pre-teens don't get HRT. I happen to be an adult with a job and student loan bills. 3 psychiatrists, 2 endocrinologists, and a general practitioner have all agreed I'm unlikely to grow out of it by now.

When paired with suicide rates and a large percentage of them with regret (sexchangeregret.com), I really don't agree that your proposed solution works.

It said it doesn't suffice, and needs to be paired with counseling and therapy. "Paired" being the operative word - not "replaced by", "paired with."
It also found that transgender suicide rates are higher after transition *compared to normal people.* Not compared to non-op trans people.

I agree that it shouldn't be encouraged, but I also think we should recognize that science has broadly concluded transsexuality among post-pubescent people is inherent, and there is no current better way of fixing it than transition. There's a difference between recognizing what needs to be done to help a small minority, and promoting it as a lifestyle choice.
