Not welcome itt: Brits. Especially welcome: Eastern and southern euros. Lately when I read about the EU it's automatically assumed it sucks, and I can't point out for what reason exactly. How does the EU affect your country enough to want to hate it? Your movement is not restricted, you don't pay import taxes for anything, you can hire people for your business from the whole continent, most laws are still made inside, etc. Is it how Germany ends up owning all the important infrastructure or excessive regulation on industry? I wouldn't know since we're not in it. What is it.

>Why is the EU inherently bad?
It's not. The Brits have been suffering a bit of a post-imperial identity crisis at the moment, the main symptom of which is a complete inability to handle the fact that they're not a superpower anymore. They're barely even a middle power these days.
Admitting that they need the EU for trade and power and prosperity is like admitting defeat to them.

Financial union without political union is bound to fail. Political union is bound to fail because Europe isn't one unified culture. Unless you want to argue how similar the Greeks are to the Germans.
>>70936429
It has many problems that go beyond those Britmemes.
The EU started out as a trade union. Later, without democratic legislation, it turned into an organ ruled of the financial elites to bypass those "pesky" national Parliaments.
>most laws are still made inside
This is not true. It may seem like that if you live in Germany, but countries as Greece, Poland or Portugal get their economic policies forced upon them.

it is simply great
it gives you opportunities to clean toilets etc
it also remove Cathocucklick Church better than commies
CONGRATULATIONS JP2!!!
now we do not have industry which only pollutes the environment
we also do not have children which waste parents time and pollute and overpopulate planet too
also we have no identity which made us even more flexible in working, so toilet cleaning on Sunday is perfectly acceptable
basically we are finally stronk, very stronk

>5th largest economy in the world
>Financial capital of the world
>Barely a "middle power" whatever that is
Okay paddy mick. Just because you're happier and better off as an EU province doesn't mean we are/would be.
It is a fundamentally neoliberal institution
There's nothing inherently wrong with a closer Europe, it's the particular ideology of the EU that I oppose

>Why is the EU inherently bad?
I dunno. Let's do a quick check.
>Central government with unchecked authority that is run by unelected bureaucrats answerable to no one and who exercised complete legislative, executive, and judicial control over the laws and policies that affect every aspect of human life, such as trade, power, water, food, building codes, travel, citizenship, immigration, and more.
What could possibly go wrong?
OH, WAIT..........

The regulations pretty much anihilated our primary and secondary sectors of the economy because of production quotas. One might argue that some of the producers receive subsidies, but then the final consumer is limited to foreign imports. You know what happens next: despite our wages being more competitive, given that production is limited, theres no way for us to compete and in the end central european economies get the hand of all production. And then they expect us to make up for it with loans.
Theres the EU for you.
>>70938658
Are you implying this isn't the case with "sovereign" governments?
>>70937117
Yeah I put that because they come talking shit about poles/romanians and the slav brigade comes derailing the thread
And I hope I dont have to remind you guys that europe is essentially a failed plan that wanted to emulate american state politics mixed with commie centralized power (EU parliament). Eventually the advocates for the EU plan wanted member states to renounce economy and sovereignty, which did not happen. Instead you got dozens of countries with different coin, trade relation and government having to abide by EU legislation. Many small countries suffered under quota systems put in place to avoid competition between member states (Portuguese industries have to run at sub par rates, and cant sell anything that goes over quotas, to the point that milk producers have to dump their product on the floor. We can barely use our extensive sea terrritory for fishing either, no wonder we're poor). Then you have the central european bank cucking over member states like greece by demanding the money from discounted bonds, pure exthortion.
Giving even more power and money to those unelected officials would cause more and more money and power trickling down to the masses.
So I do not see any problem.
It is not like communism.
You can't produce too much milk, or fruits. EU imposed a maximum quota on us.
You can't invest too much on manteinance of existing infrastructure, a maximum quota has been fixed. But you are free to build new infrastructure.
Strong pressure from EU for us to close our metallurgic industries, cause the german one are more productive.
You have to invest on solar energy and other bullshits, even if we already have contracts with Russia that already provide to Italy an excess of gas.
It's seem to me that the burocrats from Bruxelles have no idea on how things works outside of Germany or Netherland.
