It was pretty much 99.8% true to the original with a team of 30 professional volunteers, the top hardware available, 2 servers one that supported 13k people at once regularly, when normal servers at blizz are only 2.5k caps.
They were releasing everything progressively, AQ was set to be out in a couple weeks pretty much.. and BC was planned after Naxx was cleared, with the ability to keep your 60 characters AND move them to the BC server to get 70.
It was also all free, with absolutely zero way to pay for an advantage.. and they survived off donations alone.

Professions start at 1. You must go through vanilla for the items, people who lvl in vanilla will be rich, because the people who skip to 60 will pay big bucks for the starter shit etc.
Its all tiny crap like that, and the fact Ill be connecting half way across the world personally. That might suck, my latency will go from 110ms to about 140-150 ms probably. Tolerable and raid viable.
