Poor guy here. You can eat perfectly fine on min wage, the only hard part is the first few weeks when starting out with nothing. Once you get some basic equipment and a decent stock of staples you're fine.
Paying $30 upfront for a 50lbs bag of rice is tough, but when next weeks check comes in you get to buy some chicken and veggies for it, then next week you only need to restock chicken, etc. Things like spices cut into your budget, but then last for months.
The bottom line is that eating well on ebt/min wage is perfectly doable, but requires good budgeting skills and patience, something most ebt users and min wagers aren't good at.

I don't think increasing the minimum wage slightly in the US is a bad idea. Sometimes things happen that are hard to control and it may help, but raising it will not make people immune to poor life choices. Nah that's easy as shit, I lived spending about 20 a week on food for a while, that shitty ramen is 33 cents each, beans are cheap, and chicken is best protein. Assuming 2000 calories, a week's worth of ramen is only about 13 dollars. Supplement that with chicken or beans, and it becomes less money. 3-4 pounds of chicken run me about 10 bucks. Pretty much - this said as someone who works in a warehouse. We're cheap and multi-functioning robots here in unskilled labor land that does moving shit, cleaning, AND general maintenance. However, only a retard spends significant time as unskilled labor - you take the money and invest in yourself to get a cheap community college or technical certification and move up to like $15/hour.
I mean shit, I started off at $8.10 an hour, used that money to get a gym membership to get swole and get a different job that's more or less the same thing except I lift heavier objects for $12.00 an hour. In a month I start a part-time welding and machining program that I can afford with all this sweet unskilled labor money. By the end of the year I should be in a light industrial position making $20.00 an hour.
Honestly, I consider that a not bad progression for having essentially built my life up from whatever I could cram into my backpack and leaving home at the age of 18 and am sitting cozy with owning my own car, a bunch of tools, nice enough apartment, no debt, good credit, and a stable shitposting connection.
People legitimately don't get how fucking easy it is to find work and make a better life for themselves it is in this country. I got hired from literally living in a tree when I first moved out within three days of searching.

Min wage jobs are just to there to build experience to make you become an experienced worker/employee/person.
I mean, if you are doing minimum wage job(s) for a LONG time, then you're really shit.
For me, I used to work minimum wage jobs during my college years until I graduated. Didn't make a ton of money, but I got to buy other things and pay off bills.
I mean, like you have proposed, min wage jobs are probably meant for teenagers. That is correct. Its basically a stepping block for a ton of folks out there.
So basically, min wage jobs are for people who are inexperienced or is currently occupied with other career-based things.
