Google is at least more sane but their failure that google glass had to strike a broad appeal has hurt them a lot. It still has its uses if it gets improved, and maybe appeal to a broader audience if the damn thing doesn't cost an arm and leg.
Microsoft their failures are directly attributeable to their CEO. Google's case is much less, they still seem somewhat sane. Apple their products were always overpriced, but overpriced aside they were pretty foolish after google glass their failings to make a watch.
VR is just too early it has a lot of privacy concerns along with multiple technical issues and hardware issues that drive up the price by a very high amount. Early applications of smartphones were also largely unsuccesful, the VR market is overrated at the moment it will adjust in the future I'm definitely sure of that, but for the moment stay away from investing in it, maybe in 1 - 2 years things look better if a giant like Google can solve very common user issues.
