Now further understand that ALL Service members take an oath that precludes the possibility of that service member using weapons of war against American citizens...And then even FURTHER realize that drones are not that hard to defeat..Those emergency blankets that made out of that shiny material makes you invisible to IR....and then even FURTHER realize that there are over 300 MILLION registered firearms in this country, that MANY of the citizens that would be against the drones are military or former military....You are a fucking weak coward cuck if you think that the U.S. govt has even the slightest chance in hell in using the military against the people of the U.S.

I'd imagine insurgents would just attack power grid shit. Of course bases and facilities will have backup generators or some shit but overall running a robo-army would be infinitely more difficult with insurgents fucking up grid-related infrastructure all over the country.
Would it hurt their cause and themselves? Yeah to some degree but overall the army relying on robo-soldiers would need it a hell of a lot more. Just spit-balling though, I'm obviously no expert.

Declaration of Orders We Will NOT Obey

1. We will NOT obey any order to disarm the American people.

2. We will NOT obey any order to conduct warrantless searches of the American people, their homes, vehicles, papers, or effects – such as warrantless house-to house searches for weapons or persons.

3. We will NOT obey any order to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to trial by military tribunal.

4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state, or to enter with force into a state, without the express consent and invitation of that state’s legislature and governor.

5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty and declares the national government to be in violation of the compact by which that state entered the Union.

6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.

7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.

8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control” during any emergency, or under any other pretext. We will consider such use of foreign troops against our people to be an invasion and an act of war.

9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies, under any emergency pretext whatsoever.

10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

The same thing was said when colonists didn't want to fight the best military in the world.

Besides, in what reality did you ever believe that they'd just lay waste to their citizens? A country not working and not producing is not useful. Gov killing citizens outright would piss off an entire country of a massive 350 million population.

Most military personnel would refuse orders to kill civs. That's now but even if just half said no... that's bad for logistics for the military and they'd be stretched awfully thin

People would then attack our bases around the world and invade us because we are divided.

Drones (and most other modern weapons) would be useless in a civil war type of scenario. These things require multiple hours of maintenance for every hour of operation, and rely on a steady stream of spare parts that come from all across the country. Ever since WWI, the US military has based its entire strategy on the certainty of having an untouchable industrial base at home and secure supply lines to wherever the fighting is happening. We have weapons systems right now that include parts made in every state in the union. The absence of just one of those parts could ground an airplane.

Even a relatively localized uprising would leave our military's high-tech capabilities crippled within a fairly short period of time.
>>
>>70881672
didnt they outlaw guns in in the barbie and that only made the crimerate go up?
>>
>>70880102
What an asinine argument. As long as they aren't in US custody and active on the battlefield engaged against American forces, they are enemy combatants. Law is well established - no special protection is required. Once they come into US custody, they aren't POWs, they are US citizens and will be charged accordingly.

US citizens can also be targeted on US soil too, provided a state of rebellion is declared - look up Shays' Rebellion or the Civil War on wikipedia for details.

Yes obviously the government has tanks and drones. A militia can't defeat the government.

But if civillians have guns then it raises the price of using force. Instead of officers quietly taking men away, they have to use SWAT teams and drones.

If they have to use freaking drones to arrest some outdoors militia then that makes them martyrs and creates a guy standing up to a tank in Tienamen Square moment.

I can say with absolute certainty that Japanese Internment wouldn't have happened if most of the Japanese-American population had guns. It was 50/50 for a while but they tilted towards evacuation which then lead to internment.

I'm a nogunz shitposting Australian and I can see this is bullshit.

Many gun holsters have an angle you have to pull them out from (ie, right above them) to prevent stupid shit like this, it could be locked, the rounds mightn't be chambered, the safety would be on and you're going to have to figure all that out when you're less than a foot away from the guy you took it off, who is likely going to use all effort to disable you.

With help from bystanders who want to take out your stupid crazy ass, after which they'll sit on you and wait for the police to come and arrest you.

It's dead true, too, at least in my experience. We'd happily go fight sandniggers, but 80% of people I know in the military don't love Obama enough to turn on Americans for him. It's kind of a reluctant, "well, I guess he's in charge," kind of attitude among most of the Infantry.

Is destabilization and the sacrifice of every first world way of life worth having freedom?

Not meaning to sound like it's challenging the viewpoint, just curious what the opinion here is. Freedom is a sliding scale, it's not binary with the flip side being security. A civil war would provide neither, for either side.

What would the goal of such an insurgency be? Financially the country would be destroyed, currency would be both meaningless and worthless. No one would be free, as it would be 'enlist or die' and challenging viewpoints would be seen as conspiracy from either side.

The Supreme Court expanded gun rights by striking down other liberal bans as unconstitutional, notably the D.C. ban. The parks act was a completely needless bill that did nothing but re-enforce rights that already existed as restrictions were blatantly unconstitutional. World War 2 was won in mainland Japan without a single ground troop. It was an indiscriminate annihilation from the air as the Japanese wouldn't stop, and it wasn't until after their surrender that troops landed and started the military occupation.

If shit hits the fan, that'll happen. It'll be nuclear bombardment and carpet bombing, not troop fighting.

first of all, who would they rule? no self respecting citizen would take the death of their fellows, friends and family by the hands of their own government and leave it as it is

second the entire military would turn against them, there is not even discussion here, even the ones that would like to have power would see that there would be no future, and would instead plead to erase said government to get in power

third, there is no way whatsoever, no minimal chance that the entire world would not join the war until they completely eliminate said government

as i said before, the government goal is to perpetuate power, and there is no way, no path that this may take that leads to this perpetuation, which in turn would mean that the government would ultimately only do it for the lulz, because no great politician ever would shot themselves in the foot and fail to foresee the consequences of their decision as heads of state (except Bernie, that guy can't have a brain spouting all that economy bullshit)

This topic has been done to death, so I'll just greentext some things:

>government uses drones to fire rockets on civilians
>entire rest of the world condemns their actions
>US gov loses all legitimacy, potus staff and congress become international criminals

Think about Syria, UKR, Libya, Egypt. Their governments were overthrown simply because a few shots were fired on random people, and the rest of world supported the common people in overthrowing their government. (yes I know these coups were CIA ops, point still stands)

>government declares all gun-owners are terrorists
>military rattles the saber, media plays along, leftists cheer
>"I can't wait to see right-wing gunfags get droned!"
>but no shots are ever fired on government troops
>instead, oil refineries start breaking down, gov computer networks malfunction, shipments that are crucial to important military sites start arriving later and later, large amounts of weapons and gear go missing, drone pilot's families are kidnapped
>and all across the country, millions stop paying taxes

The government and military run on citizens and private contractors. If a few key people stop showing up for work or purposefully cause accidents, then those drones never take off in the first place.

Oh yeah sure, just like the big bad Russian bogeyman might nuke us and we'll both blow the whole world up. Just like the guy in the coffeeshop with a handgun might kill everyone inside. Just like the kid in high school that compulsively carried a knife might stab someone on the playground.

What's the motivation? What are they going to get out of it? Contrary to what you might think, in order to get high enough in the command structure to have your finger on the button you need to demonstrate some level of competence and critical thinking skills.

The only possible way the US Military would ever use nuclear weapons or carpet bombings on American soil is if there was absolutely no other way and if they knew they were going to lose. At that point, it's not a strategic option. It's a "Fuck you."

You do realize that we don't live in a dystopian society and that the individuals in the military have free will and can make choices right?

The moment they start using drones in cities to kill citizens is when they officially lose control of the country. No matter how much the try and spin it as terrorists there will be a revolt.

Insurgents are a hard to find moving target. Shit won't play out like it did in the civil war.

The government might identify towns known to be held by rebels but the second they start shelling civilians all hell will break lose. Militias will use durka tactics and hit DC where it hurts especially when they get assistance from military turncoats

Jesus fucking Christ, is this really what brainwashed liberals go around thinking when they see people with guns? These people need to be culled.
>>
>>70887008

Gun activists couldn't hack their way out of a C++ tutorial. The point I'm trying to make is that wars are fought by a couple dozen guys in a handful of armored vehicles making strategic strikes on targets of strategic value. There are no "front lines" other than completely arbitrary illustrations created to help people understand the general scheme of conflict.

That's the equivalent of Europeans thinking
>the people with guns have them because they should have them
And then 100 people die in Paris or Norway because they all assume a criminal will never have that sort of power over them.

The correct solution to the coffee shop problem is to bring your own gun so that if they start shooting , you can kill them before they kill you.

The correct solution to the MIC is to break it into little pieces so that even if one part of it becomes corrupt and evil, you can be sure that your part won't. Which is what our founding fathers intended. United States, not THE STATE.
>>
People will be trading their guns in for a can of corn.
>>
Lets also remember a couple of things, most insurgents are likely to NOT be city dwellers. They will be those who tend to live in suburban to rural areas, and will be well versed in using weaponry.

And to add, because most of them are going to be from rural areas, they control one key element city dwellers absolutely depend on: food. Insurgents could starve out entire cities easily by withholding food or burning it, and saving enough for themselves. Heck, they could probably end up, by in large, hunt and gather for their own food, while those in more urban areas will have nothing.

>Vietnamese vs USA
North Vietnam supplied by the USSR and China. USA still managed to achieve a 1:20 k/d ratio

>Romans vs Germanic tribes
Rome's collapse was far more to do with internal problems than invasion from outside. Also, by the late Imperial period the weapons and armour technology of the Germanics was approaching parity with the Romans

>Picts vs Romans
picts repeatedly got their shit kicked in. Romans marched all over Scotland burning everything as they went. The only reason they remained independent was because there was nothing there worth the expense of holding onto

>Hannibal vs shit tons of legions
Hannibal's technology, troops quality, and probably finances were on a par or better than Rome's. He only had a numerical disadvantage.

>Fucking Dagos vs Ethiopians
Ethiopians were equipped with firearms, unlike the usual African spear-chuckers, even if most of them were outdated. And they still lost

>All those wiki pics posted on here of random EE millitias vs Roach Empire
usually defending fortresses, the most technologically demanding military investments of their day. And their lands all got conquered by the turks anyway, so that's more of an example of why a couple of brave men don't really make much of a difference

>US vs Brits
colonies were supplied by France and Spain, who later joined the war on the colonials side.

The only time rebellions succeed is when they're being used as proxy wars by great powers. Most of the rest of the time they fail miserably. Frankly I'd have thought that Americans would know this better than anyone - me again how that whole secession thing turned out last time? And the Confederates were far, far better organised and equipped than any domestic insurrection in the modern US would be.

Don't you greentext strawman me mister. That's not what I said and you know it. The people in charge earned their position and they're not stupid. You act as if some bumblefuck is granted access to the keys to a nuke activation sequence on a whim.

>And then 100 people die in Paris or Norway because they all assume a criminal will never have that sort of power over them.

Considering you're arguing against a strawman I'm not going to bother putting the effort into a counter-argument. Fact of the matter is that the US military isn't made of criminals, and the people with their fingers on The Button aren't psychotic ignoramuses devoid of reasoning.

>The correct solution to the coffee shop problem is to bring your own gun so that if they start shooting , you can kill them before they kill you.

The correct solution to the coffee shop problem is to stop assuming that everyone with a gun wants to kill you. It's an inanimate object, a tool capable of killing. Just like with nukes and Mutually Assured Destruction, one asshole with a gun is kept in check by a bunch of other people with guns.

>The correct solution to the MIC is to break it into little pieces so that even if one part of it becomes corrupt and evil, you can be sure that your part won't.

Not telling you that you're wrong on this, but each individual within that command structure is capable of autonomous decision-making on a case-by-case basis. There was at least one example during the Cold War of military officers refusing to kill the whole world just because they "knew" that Russia had launched nukes at us. It turned out to be a false alarm, but if they had retaliated against the false positive then we really would have all died.

People need to stop living in perpetual fucking fear of anything that could kill them.

Reminder that while the the enlisted oath swears to obey the orders of the president and the orders of the officers appointed over them, the commissioned officer's oath does not swear to obey the president.

>I, _____, having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God." (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)

The American people could fuck their Government up by just not paying taxes.

We could literally have thousands of armed men in DC almost immediately. Government officials have a lot of security but there is no way they could take even a small mob of people with guns.

In liberal fantasies maybe. Bubbas out in the sticks with AA guns and anti-IR everything would beg to differ. A civil war in America would be over quick. Those orders are against the UCMJ and constitution, therefore, they would not be followed by Service members. Katrina this very thing happened. A NG unit was ordered to disarm the people, they refused. They had to bring in a private police force to do it. And not a single one of those soldiers suffered any ill effects. They did the right thing.

Well, thats actually 75% true. Afghanistan has become a democracy, and it's people are proud of the fact. Women are going to school and people always try to speak English when they meet an American instead of always relying on an interpreter. They are proud of what they've been accomplished with the help of the American military and ISAF. The taliban have been reduced to an insurgent group of varying presence over the years instead of the governing body in 2001 and prior, but they still are a major problem in Afghanistan and now ISIS has shown up adding to the trouble.

Has the job been 100% accomplished? No, but it certainly is an improvement, but the people have to be willing to stand up and fight for their country instead of relying on us. This is not a fight for us to win for them, and they've grown accustomed to a large US presence there.
