You really believe the trouble in the world, is friction between some proportion of Moslems versus the Christian and progressively liberal West?
There are powerful state actors in the world, the USA number one and with the NATO alliance and Europe; and Russia and China and a few others. We are never going to be able to resolve or completely quiet the Islam-vs-West friction because there is a little flame under the pot that feeds in from the state rivalry of the US versus Russia et al.
We need to resolve that rivalry and it did not work out to decree that we would 'hit the reset button' on the relationship nor can we just unilaterally quit it. We need Russia to quit it.
Only then will we be able to see how great and how small the West-vis-Islam friction is in it'sself. Maybe a combination of experience, relations and time would allow us to find a course through the high waves of that contest of the human spirit. But we are never ever going to finish that task, fighting Arabs and Moslems, while in the background there stand at odds with full Air Force and nuclear forces of Russia and China and Cuban rowboats.
(Egypt's Air Force is real large I guess compared to the way things used to be done, but that just is not the Russian or the PRC Air Force and the Egyptian state is a construct that can be dealt with and possible negotiable.)
