In stronghold crusader you can ask your allies for stone and then use that stone to build walls with.
In Crusader Kings 2 you can dow an enemy to make him your tribute, fend of an invasion and make the enemy pay you money for declaring war at you or just capture a bunch of their gays and let them pay ransom after which you expand the walls of your capital or other province.
In the total war games it's pretty much the same.

The third was so fucked up that I had fucking archers in a tower (accessed by a fucking ladder) assaulted and killed by freaking wolves! Thats right, I successfully reppeled bandit and enemy attacks and the fucking village fell to the wolves.
Also the peasants refused to cut wood because the fucking forest was enchanted or wtf they were complaining about.
