What were you taught in school /pol/ history wise.

Here in the Midwest we were taught about American history and only American history, from Kindergarten to high school.

Also taught that the civil war was either about states rights or slavery completely depending on the teacher.

We had two separate history lessons. One was about Russia's history while the other one focused on the world's history as a whole.

World's history mostly covered interesting moments of Western history, such as the crusades, The Hundred Years' War, colonization of the New World, industrial revolution in Great Britain and such.

Russia's history can be described as "asians/westerners stay out REEEEEE~". On these lessons we mostly focused on Russia's war history with descriptions of how peasantry/nobility lived back then being thrown in between.

Neat, we only ever talked world history when it was relevant to American history, like about France and England in the Revolutionary War, Europe when we were talking about WWI and WWII and Russia during the Cold War unit.

I'm taking history of modern western civilization this Autumn when I start college, interested to see what that will be like.

American history is the only history worth learning.

They taught us nationalism is evil and your isolationism somehow actually drove you INTO WW1.

We talked about how being allies with people only lead to them dragging you into unwanted wars. And that's the only reason we got into WWI, because our "friends" insisted we need to throw our men into the meat grinder over something happening half a world away.

When really it was just because Woodrow Wilson was the worst president in the history of the United States by a large margin.

Yep.

I don't remember shit about anything I was "told" about History in school. Just that we killed Abos and it was bad. When we should of killed all of them and not had to listen or deal with them.

Everything else I know about History I went and read a bunch of books about. Like the Roman Empire and the American Civil War and shit. WII and how the Japanese have Unit 731 but no one talks about it since they made a deal with USA.
