Oh, so it's that easy! Just start making wall street and corporations pay "their fair share". Why didn't anyone ever think of that before? Oh wait, they did...and realized big business runs the US. Bernie Sanders can't stop it. He will just tax the fuck out of people to incorporate his "programs". GTFO.

I never really get it when lefties start going on about rich people paying their "fair share" or there being "one rule for the rich and another for us".

Retards, they pay all the tax. Even with them not paying they still pay nearly all the tax. You've probably paid in enough tax over the course of your life to get one of your shit kids halfway through middle school.

Shut up.

His plan would work, if not that you can just continue your work in another country where you don't need to pay America-tier taxes and wages. Or how easy it is to hide money somewhere else and not pay taxes on it. In the end, everyone except Johnny Welfare and Mr. CEO will pay for his plans.

Keep in mind he is one of the most personally financially irresponsible candidate we've had in decades. And he's supposed to not waste American taxpayer money?

Both of these laments apply equally well to Trump's trade taxes.

At least Bernie is mostly taxing Wall St which might even have some positive externalities in making the economy more stable.

Trump is taxing trade which is a 100% productive and economically necessary activity and therefore for sure more economically harmful.

Both of them are punishing rich people to appease the poor.

It's not actually clear that a large percentage of the games Wall Street plays are economically beneficial. It's only the case that they are legal. At most they claim they add liquidity but it's not really obvious whether they are actually helping or hindering actual wealth generation activities.

For example one can easily make the argument that they have been very instrumental in the market push towards short term gain which has now resulted in a shitty economic state with mediocre growth.

In any case it is much harder to make the argument that trading stocks at 0.01us intervals is at all necessary or as necessary as trade in physical goods with China is.

Maybe it's the conservative in me, but that's what I don't get. If we're all meant to be equal, why does one group pay more? It's basically punishing those who work hard and achieve.

I understand the necessity of heightened taxes, but the hypocrisy and clueless direction of neoliberals sinks any argument they have when it comes to the topic.

Lolwut? You don't understand shit about anything to say such a thing.

That would MASSIVELY help small time traders (it would hardly affect investors at all). Look if you don't know what the fuck you're talking about just shut up already.

Do you understand the difference in volume between small time trading and commercial trading firms? Do you know how commercial trading firms prey on private investors. Do you know how HFT make their bucks? Do you know how pretty much all brokers sell your orders data to these commercial firms which in turn device algorithms to make money by jumping one step ahead of you and how these algorithms mostly work by out pacing human traders in both speed and volume?

No clearly not. You have absolutely no fucking clue about any of this shit so just shut up already, retard.

It's the fact that the people spewing the higher taxes meme promote equality in every single way except when it comes to income.

I'm not advocating for completely equal taxes, I'm just taking the time to point out hypocrisy. We've been fishing for others to eat for the longest time. If we don't teach them to fish, the tax payer will always be livestock propping up the lower class.

Why should I pay more money that I'll never see again to help someone I'll never know and will never repay me or society? It's basically inhibiting parasitism.
>>
>>70840452
But a lot of the 1% don't really "work hard and achieve" a huge amount of wealth in the U.S. Is from inheritance, and an even larger amount of money is stored either offshore or put into investment banking which doesn't benefit any class other than the 1%. Trickle down economics clearly doesnt work so the idea is that for the people who don't have to spend a huge portion of their income on basic survival needs (like the 1%) they should pay a bit more in taxes to help basic infrastructure. No one in a country with as much money as the U.S. Should live below the poverty line.

Fuck socialism, fuck the gibs bullshit. Ben Shapiro, love him or hate him, characterizes this pretty well: socialism implies that someone else has the rights to YOUR labor.

I have no reason to believe that this tax would seriously impact large firms' abilities to make profits due to their large purchasing power. However private investors have much less money to play with and thus are much more negatively impacted by this tax.

Inheritors shouldn't be looked down upon for their family's hard work, it was passed on so the family could continue being prosperous. This happens in smaller monetary situations too in the middle and lower class.

I wonder if taxes are a reason money goes to offshore accounts? That would make sense. My last post I stated I'm not advocating for completely equal taxes because I understand why we have heightened taxes for individuals.

If taxes are really the reason money is being pulled out from the country, is it not logical to say more taxes would result in more offshore money?

What you are proposing is the retarded COMMUNIST idea of equality.

If you go to a shop to get a bagel and a coffee you pay for a fucking bagel and a coffee. And if you go to shop to get a croissant you pay for the fucking croissant.

Proportional taxation is fair because it is proportion to the cost that the taxpayer inflicts on society.

Or do you think that a business owner isn't massively benefiting more from property rights protections and all other government services than a simple farmer? There is a reason why a farm can be set up anywhere but a modern business cannot be.

The farmer has only his land to protect. He can do that with a shotgun.

The business owner needs people to protect his shop from thieves, his couriers and drivers, his contracts and trade agreements. He needs courts to settle disputes. He needs governments to enact trade policies with other countries so that he can operate in foreign markets. He needs to figure our how to be protected in case his business fails (it's called an LLC and it's a massive state sanctioned privileges to businesses).

What you faggots want is for the farmer to pay just as much tax despite making much less use of government services and imposing a much lower cost on society because pretty much all the tax money is going to funding that is helping the business owner keep his operation alive and running.

Actually did my taxes last night, took me an hour. I'm middle class with barely any assets so it's relatively easy for me to breeze through my forms, e-filing has simplified the process for many of those who can't do their own though.

I'm just arguing on the fact that budget reform would be easier as opposed to a brand new tax code, but I do agree that a tax code would solve a slew of things. Bipartisan politics would hinder any progress on a new tax code though, I think it would be much easier for both parties to argue in Congress about the budget. I wanna say that revision is an easier process for Congress than actual creation.
>>
>>70843945
Every time I've done taxes it took me about 2 or 3 hours, maybe it's because I was below the poverty line at the time.

I'd assert that budget reform would be as likely as tax reform. Which is, not at all.

Being below the poverty line qualifies you for so many tax breaks, so I assume that's why.

The problem isn't taxes. We complain and complain that big businesses need to pay their fade share, 1%ers need to pay their fair share, but they do pay, even if part. My question is where does it all go?? Oh into the govt so the can use it to pay and buy what's important to them. Go check out pork barrel spending for this year. Thats great that we want it to be fair but then the government has to put money where they say they will.

TL:DR no matter how much taxes we pay, the rich pay, or businesses pay, it all goes into a corrupt government.
