In the books there are 5 factions, Abnegation, Dauntless, Erudite, Candor and Amity. These factions represent the world's most popular religions. Let me explain each one.
Abnegation are the selfless. They try to be unnoticeable so they wear plain clothing. They volunteer. They don't eat meats like hamburgers. Women and children aren't allowed to speak (at least at the dinner table they are allowed to speak regularly).You know which religion in the world represents them? Muslims. That's right, the whole of Divergent is about a Muslim girl.
Erudite are the intelligent. They have the smartest IQs of all of the factions. They also have a huge hatred for Abnegation. They are also extremely vain. They wear blue often. It's obvious which religion they represent. They represent the Jews.
Dauntless are the brave. In the Dauntless Manifesto they want to protect people who cannot defend themselves. They represent the Christians.
Amity & Candor are the peaceful and the honest. They have mutual distrust of each other and don't have any hard feelings with the other factions. They represent Buddhism and Hinduism respectively.
Transfers represent conversion. Only Tris and Tobias were the only transfers from Abnegation to Dauntless. Not a lot of Muslims convert to Christianity. In the book there are a lot of Dauntless initiates but a lack initiates for Abnegation.
Ok, now that I have explained to you that. Let me tell you how it represents the race war. In the book, during the initiation exams Jeanine (the leader of Erudite) creates an injection to be used on the Dauntless. She uses the injection to take them under her control and turn them into killers. The Dauntless are told to attack Abnegation. The Dauntless brutally kill a good portion of the faction. The rest of them flee to Amity. The book ends with the Dauntless waking up and ready to take revenge on the Erudite. The Jews will instigate WW3 confirmed!!
