So two weeks after our airport finally reopened after the terrorist attacks, it's shut down again because our air traffic control staff are pissed off that their retirement age is being pulled up from 55 to 58 (the standard retirement age here is 67, by the way).

These people, on average, earn 12.000 euros per month before tax (probably roughly half that after tax). They have access to a luxury hotel and VIP restaurant near their place of work. Even so, they decided to all call in sick to voice their disagreement with the new retirement measures. They're obviously sending doctors to check up on them, but it's difficult to fire any of these people because there are so few of them who control so much.

I'm tired of living in this ridiculous caricature of a country holy shit. It was bad enough last year when our railroad staff went on strike just about once a month - at least those were legal and announced in advance.

I fucking hate this country. It's somehow amazing how we're still somehow among the richest countries in the world, while socialism and trade unions are plundering the country

Marc Descheemaecker is based as fuck though

Says the guy still using archaic measurement units. How many inches are in a furlong again?

> retirement age.

That's a grandiose dream in my country. We're all going to be working till we drop dead.
>>
>>70815484
Our generation too. But these FUCKING trade unionists in their fifties think they can still retire before they turn 60. Everybody hates them
>>
To be fair, have you ever seen what ATCs do? Your airport is relatively small, but even there you literally cannot stop concentrating for one second or could cause a crash.
>>
>>70815365
It's ridiculous, really. What incentive do international companies have to make use of our transport infrastructure? Unpredictable strikes, Brussels being basically ISIS headquarters, etc.

Worst thing is that these people are abusing the economic vulnerability of an airport that's still recovering from a terror attack that shut it down for a week. It's ridiculous and just plain immoral. I mean, I understand that these people have a lot of responsibilities and should be reimbursed appropriately, which is why I don't have much issues with how much they are paid, but geez, they seem to feel more entitled than millenial teens.

Being an ATC is a hard job anon, working at an older age, is dangerous because it requires a lot of concentration and ability to multitask.

Air traffic control is a hard fucking job.
There is a lot of shit wrong with your country, don't take it out on fuckers who have one of the most stressful jobs.
>>
>>70815611
True. Didn't help that decades of mismanagement and people retiring at 50-55 caused this huge dent in our state funds.

>>70815619
I don't think anyone believes that these people should not be reimbursed accordingly for their job which is clearly taxing, difficult and carries a lot of responsibility. But shutting down an airport entirely out of the blue - with absolutely no warning - is just ridiculous.
>>
>>70815143
Same happened here.
We ended up militarizing our biggest airport and it is said that it was all a smoke screen by the goverment to end up getting their hands on the profits of the air transport market.

>they seem to feel more entitled than millenial teens.

All babyboomers. And especially those in the trade unions. They are literally the worst generation. During the 70s, 80s and 90s they used our excessive wealth to grant themselves special pension rules so they could already retire at 50. In the meantime they also flooded the country with thousends of immigrants

It is a job that nobody is thanked for but that has very high responsiblities. You know, these guys are invariably first blamed in any plane accident. It is n owonder they are piss mad that they have to work years longer in their soul destroying work, while immigrants not only fnancially undermine the state, but also feel justified in nail-bombing Belgian citizens. If you expect persons to make sacrifices, you have to compensate them reasonably.

I will agree with you that this way of unannounced striking is a dick move and that Belgium is a joke of a country.
>>
>>70815366
>trying this hard
Lmfao, you're really trying to use our measurement system as an insult?
>>
>>70816041
Well it is.

>It is n owonder they are piss mad that they have to work years longer in their soul destroying work, while immigrants not only fnancially undermine the state, but also feel justified in nail-bombing Belgian citizens

Then they need to fucking leave their trade unions. The three big trade unions (socialist, christian democrat and liberal democrat) are all highly affiliated with parties who push for mass immigration and diversity.

That's the whole paradox of these guys. They protest against social dumping in the transport sector (romanian truck drivers who take their jobs), yet are part of organizations and thus parties who have a strong EU agenda
>>
>>70816079
When we've tried so hard not to be like Europe, I'd say keeping our measurement system is a victory over cuckoldery.
>>
>>70815789
This, fuck them.

My mother will retire at 58 and complains about being so damn tired and whaa what and how muh fun she will have and that she "did her part".

Meanwhile every year you are enrolled in university won't count towards your pension which means that soon we should have 70 year old doctors.
