There was a hilarious spit he got into for making a joke. Basically to sum the story up before the punchline

Not really. There's a difference between being deliberately edgy to Liberal audiences to fill your pockets, and legitimately expressing your views in your comedy. Tim Minchin, while not /pol/ is the type to express his true opinions. Tim Minchin's gig is to attack Christians and Conservatives, he's probably Liberal himself. There's the difference though. I don't know where he fits, have you tried Jim Jefferies? He'd probably be funnier to you than Carter.
