We were never a social experiment. This country was built pretty much solely by Anglo-Saxons from Europe. The natives that were here didn't have much of anything.
Until around 1960 the US was 80+% white and since then it has been dropping constantly. With that, crime rates have exploded. Yes, there was a period where it decreased from about 1990-2006, but since then they've been steadily increasing, and they are still infinitely higher than pre-1960. Crime isn't the only thing, but a loss of trust. People don't know their neighbors anymore and don't want to know them. Most humans prefer being around humans that look like them. Hell, most animals feel that way. This causes people to fracture into multiple interest groups vying for the same piece of the pie instead of a unified, cohesive people.
Because of this situation, we now have a white population nearing 60%. This isn't exactly reversible. I don't want bloodshed, I don't want to die and I don't want to kill anyone. So I can agree with you that the US as it currently exists can never be ethno-nationalist.
However, we do need to severely increase regulations on non-white immigration to preserve the remaining white population. Like it or not, white people have higher average IQs and do better in every metric relevant to societal productivity (except for Asians, who prefer to live in their own countries for the most part). This wouldn't be an issue if Jews and other elites weren't trying as hard as possible to lower the white birthrate while importing millions of non-whites.
In addition to that, assimilation needs to be facilitated and forced upon people. Anyone living in this country illegally that does not speak English should be deported immediately. Well, all illegals should be deported.
