is that an abo on the left?
>>
i'm assuming the man on the left was important. perhaps a scientist or inventor? I assume he did something important and wasn't just a diversity hire.

Why would they put that weird local fauna on the left side and not a kangaroo or koala instead? Are they on other bills?

David Unaipon. Inventor and mechanical engineer. Most notable invention was the predecessor of all modern mechanical shears (big stuff in a sheep farming country). He also spent a lot of effort trying to break the laws of thermodynamics, to no avail.
>>
>>70790804
David, on the left, is a guy who invented a shearing thing. Edith Cowan, on the right, is Australia's first female parliamentarian. She helped make it legal for women to be lawyers.

That looks pretty cool.

Another thing to note. All Australian notes other than the 5 dollar have a man on one side and a woman on the other. The special centennial 5 dollar has both a man and woman on it, though.

The ten has Banjo Paterson (poet/author) and Mary Gilmore (poet/journalist). The five typically has the sovereign at time of minting on one side, and Parliament on the other, but centennial fives have Sir Henry Parkes (premier of colonial NSW, father of federation) and Catherine Helen Spence (author/politician/suffragette). Twenties have Mary Reibey (businesswoman) and Reverend John Flynn (founder of the Flying Doctor service). Fifties have already been explained. And hundreds have Dame Nellie Melba (Anglosphere-wide famous classical singer) and General Sir John Monash (WWI general, grandfather of Blitzkrieg).

There are animals on our coins
>>
>>70794188
And yes, Sir Monash is a Jew. Which means Australia has a Jew on their highest-value general circulation note.
>>
>>70794648
He lived a fucked up life though, achieved so much.

Have a look at this bloke

And yes, that means that his pioneering of the sort of combined-arms warfare that would inspire Heinz Guderian on the battlefield in 1918 and lead him into developing Blitzkrieg for the Germans in WWII is hilarious.

>"The true role of infantry is not to expend itself upon heroic physical effort, not to wither away under merciless machine-gun fire, not to impale itself on hostile bayonets, but on the contrary, to advance under the maximum possible protection of the maximum possible array of mechanical resources, in the form of guns, machine-guns, tanks, mortars and aeroplanes; to advance with as little impediment as possible; to be relieved as far as possible of the obligation to fight their way forward."

I have one.
