Anonymous isn't a real group. Anonymous was an inside joke created by 4chan. When the media caught wind of a "hacking website" it drew more people in thinking they were lurking on some super secret website.
Then it turned into a silly scapegoat for actual hacker groups, it was amusing for them to pretend to be a super elite hacker group claiming responsibility for whatever they did. I'm pretty sure the US government has even pinned shit on this made up group. Now Anonymous is just a handful of Twitter accounts ran by teens.
There is no such thing as Anonymous. There is no group who used to do this, and now they are that. Anonymous didn't become liberal, because Anonymous never actually existed.
It would be like a group of people starting a Twitter claiming to be the Sharks from a West Side Story, and now we're fighting for equal pay for women. It's silly, because it's a fucking made up gang from an old movie that no one watches anymore or even gets the reference.
