Iran and Afghanistan were liberal muslim countries before all the western intervention. Funnily enough we set these Islamic countries back hundreds of years because of our constant need to intervene for selfish reasons. Imagine if half of these US backed springs and revolutions didn't happen. When you start bombing their countries and making their lives shit then they can form an agenda.
I doubt many of these muslims wanna be eternally fighting against the west. If life was good like it was back in the day then I doubt anyone would listen to the guy at the mosque or on the corner calling for jihad. Assuming you're christian, would you jump into a crusade halfway across the world if the pope or someone at a church asked you to? saying ti was your duty to god? No you wouldn't because you have food, hot water, entertainment and so many other things while these people are living without anything.

Solution: Leave them alone and don't fuck about in the middle east anymore. Close the borders and instead working alongside the government of their countries, help rebuild houses and give aid and stuff. Once the foundation is built leave them to it and never go back.
