It makes no sense to me but i dont find it too concerning. The Vatican lost most of its political heft long ago and I dont see what, even if it were shady and malicious, they could accomplish. Most Catholics disagree with communism as an ideology, so i really doubt the papacy would risk pushing that agenda.
It makes no sense but it doesnt seem like anything will come of it.
Additionally, the cynic in me looks back on the criminally insane and twisted history of former popes and really doubts that a liberal commie could do more damage than, say, the warmongers or pornographers of the past.
