I just don't get their motivation. I'd heard so much about how surprisingly well done the MLP cartoon is that I tried to sit through an episode of it, and made it most of the way through the episode. It was so cringe inducing that I had to stop it. The characters were unbearably annoying, the music was awful, and the plot was some peurile shit about working together and overcoming differences that you'd expect from a show designed for female toddlers. The whole thing just made me more disgusted with the entire brony subculture, because it revealed clearly that the fans were projecting good qualities onto a standard, low quality children's show. And that raises the question: what's their motivation? Is it a fear of adulthood? The elephant in the room is it obviously conjurs suspicions of its fanbase's possibly deviant sexual interests.
Chris-Chan is possibly the most reviled personality on the internet, but the only thing that makes him unique is that his interests are fringe because their outdated: he's the last remnant of the Pokemon/Sonic fandom of the 90s. I would suggest that many in the furry/brony "community" are every bit as repulsive and mentally disturbed as Chris-Chan (at least before he matured slightly and evolved into a transexual), and they only gain some societal protection because their strange interests/proclivities are more contemporary, and as a result less glaring.
