Depression is very real and it's an extremely debilitating illness. The issue is that people trivialise it by self diagnosing themselves as depressed when they're just sad resulting in people actually suffering from depression to not be taken seriously.

Depression affects the brain, just as excessive and constant alcohol consumption affects the brain.
People generally don't fake depression, because there's no real benefit to taking those pills since they might fuck you up further. Much easier to fake back-pain (another hard to diagnose, but very real condition) and get some of that sweet Oxycontin, as well as disability benefits.

Throughout my teen years and my early twenties I was a leftist cuck who believed I suffered from depression. Then I found /pol/ and it opened my eyes to the truth. I learned that only weak cucks feels sorry for themselves and that a real man fight through any sort of pain.
The book that gave me the coup de grace from the cuck life was industrial society and its future. The revelations of learning I had been decieved fueled me with hatred and a cause to fight for.

The only reason why "Depression" is so prevalent in today's idiot is because Mr. Robot, Spirit Science, and Bill Nye all seem to correlate depression with hyper intelligence. Rather than saying "I'm a fucking self absorbed genius" people turn to depression as a sort of indication of intelligence without actually saying so.
