I still want to eat meat, but I don't want to buy it in a fucking supermarket. I actually want to see the cows that I'm eating.
Go to a local butcher that gets local meat. The prices are a little spendier but the meat is generally of a higher quality.

the point is, hunting for large animals doesn't make sense because you cant eat it all or have room to keep it long enough to eat it all, and why having a butcher and buying meat in a store makes more sense in a civilized society.

Degenerate? Well in terms of health, yes. Meat in all forms (red being more potent and fish less so) lowers your life expectancy; it forces your body to grow even when you don't need to. But, if you're under 30 or so (varies person to person), feel free to eat in your youth as it doesn't yet have negative consequences.

Protein that's in nuts, dark leafy greens, seeds and legumes are infinitely better for you than 'meat', especially in your adulthood. I would even say dairy proteins trump meats... However I would still recommend a small portion of red meat once a week.
