Whats so good about George Washington?

He was a British military failure who was propped up by decent generals, and stuffed into an office before he caused any real damage.

Jefferson and Franklin were infinitely superior men.

Nigger could've been king but turned it down

I don't even know that it was generals, man.

Weather fucked the British more than the revolutionary army. It's pure luck, or wizardry.

He turned down power for power's sake, though. The biggest deciding factor in American politics for the next couple centuries. Shame we forgot.

>Weather fucked the British more than the revolutionary army.

Weather and the French, anyway. Then again, weather plays a huge part in warfare, even now. The spanish Armada got fucked by storms, and without them it might well have succeeded, and the UK might just have been another spanish territory.

>He turned down power for power's sake, though.

He did. Which was incredibly wise. Fuck, the founding fathers were the greatest gift that a nation could ever have. A council of fantastically wise men. Shame that you guys now deface their statues and shit all over their accomplishments.

He could have been the King of America but he gave up control.
>>
>>70712105
Can you elaborate on this? Isn't president essentially king?
>>
>>70712105
He believed in democracy
>>
>>70713822
He did not want power. Wanted to just be a farmer.
>>

I'm calling bullshit, what the fuck does some no name country know about America
>>
>>70710872

he died when he caught a cold and thought dumping half of his blood via blood letting would bleed the illness out and died

what a fucking idiot!

but as far as leaders go he was based he stuck it to the most powerful force on the planet and somehow won

As the Revolution was being fought it wasn't certain that we'd end up as a republic. Some people believed it was possible Washington would win and then declare himself king and a monarchy would be built around it. He never did. And then when he was President, he voluntarily stepped down after his second term, when he could have run again and been elected (indefinitely). Washington was that revered in his time.

i heard that german was almost voted the official language of america, and that english didnt win by a lot
is that true?
>>
>>70713822
no. The president actually has very little legislative power and no judicial power. The only power the president has legislatively is the power of influence (getting the people to try to vote or think his way) or the veto or threat of a veto. The president's main power is in foreign policy, treaties, and executing the law. He can do some things through executive order, but these only effect government institutions, not the population at large.

he also controls the military

Claim: A proposal to make German the official language of the United States of America was defeated in Congress by one vote.

Status: False.

Origins: Legend has it that in 1795 a bill to establish German as the official language of the fledgling United States of America was defeated in Congress by a single vote. There never was such a vote; indeed, there wasn't any such bill, either. A proposal
before Congress in 1795 merely recommended the printing of federal laws in German as well as English, and no bill was ever actually voted upon.
