I don't hate them, I just disagree with them.
A lot of them have this self-riteous mindset, claiming to be for the people while attacking those that disagree with them. Not that the right doesn't do that, its just the left seems to ignore facts completely. Common sense doesn't seem to apply to the vast majority of leftists anyways.
They seem to be so quick to demonize right-wing policies, claiming "racism" while supporting the welfare system that puts blacks in ghettos.
tl;dr: The left has the right mindset, wrong plan of action.

I always try to explain to my leftist friends how just because my understanding of how a society progresses is different than theirs and just because I like to look at second consequences of what might seem good intentions (like 2 people removed me from facebook because I stated that not kicking people who don't pay their rent would result in higher costs for apartment letting), doesn't mean I'm not interested in people's progress.
Little success so far, only the younger ones are open minded.
