How WW2 veterans feel about the modern world?

My gramps fought in WW2 and he was pro-trump. He died in October though.
He generally thought the world was a degenerate hellhole that was going to shit. He thought the young generation was a bunch of pussies that were entirely too reliant on technology. He was very wary of technology in general. Always said that society had grown way too dependent on it.
Pretty typical views for a white male 90yo WW2 veteran who grew up on a farm in the middle of the great depression.

My gramps actually got pretty redpilled towards the end. He shocked pretty much everyone at a christmas eve party by saying Roosevelt engineered the whole thing, forcing us into war. He said we had no business being in the war just like ww1. He then said all his friends died to make someone money. Was pretty sad desu.

I can't figure out what my Grampa thinks about it. He was in the Merchant Marine during WWII then joined the Army and went to Korea. Grew up on a farm in the great depression with an alcoholic father.
Unfortunately, he's extremely stubborn, and was always Pro Union. As a result he has always been Democrat.
He blames everything wrong with today on Republicans, and that Democrats are the only answer to fix it.
I tried to explain to him that this mode of thinking won't solve anything. I asked him if he believes Hillary Clinton lies. He said No. He knew I was just trying to get him to admit Democrats aren't perfect, but he's stubborn and I love that ornery old bastard.
Personally I think he secretly voted for the white guy in 2008 and 2012. My great grampa was murdered by a nigger.

Veterens here are all over the Political Spectrum. The german vets here in Michigan are proud of their service to the riech , but arent pro hitler (except for the SS and SD). The pacific vets overwhelming still hate the japs. Black vets aren't impressed with the current generation of blacks (black panther tank gunner, pacific grave digger, and tuskegee airmen say this.) They are not to impressed with how the country has devolved to, and they don't like how millenials glorify war or protest their rights as Americans. Generally speaking of course

My grandfather fought at the Battle of the Bulge and liberated Bergen-Belsen. He then went on to fight in Korea, then became a federal investigator for the Department of Agriculture.
He liked the 80s, hated the 90s, bought only American-made products, detested communist scum, and hated how dishonorable and narcissistic society is today. He was the only salt-of-the-earth person I've known.
