If humanity began in Africa and white people are the result of the loss of melanin due to no longer requiring such high levels to survive in the cooler climates, why were there no darker skinned people left over in the lighter skinned countries before globalism? Like how we still have the tailbone, why did darker skinned people completely disappear in these locations?
If they were bred out, does this mean that darker skins are inherently less attractive?

There are different kinds of mutation. Mutations for lighter (unpigmented) features are very easy to generate, because they just require a nonsense mutation to ruin a gene at one exact point, whereas darker (pigmented) are much harder, because you need to produce a functional protein for pigment-production.
You can see this in global racial differences where the aboriginal inhabitants of southern India and Melanesia, whose ancestors didn't spend very long away from the equator, have black skin, whereas the equatorial aboriginals in the Americas still have relatively light skin, because their ancestors spent a longer time around Siberia, lost some of their skin function, and weren't able to regain it in 10,000 years living on the equator.
Anyway, this is all to say that humans have been living in cold climates for approximately 50,000 years (more like 300,000 years if you include Neanderthals), and these mutations happen so frequently that there are something like five different mutations for blonde hair in Europe, and another one that arose randomly in Polynesia. That is plenty of time for a mutation with a slight selective advantage to become fixed in the population.
