I think the only possible working answer would be a bit of the second to last one, government takes over voting but not anything else. The government tallies votes, makes sure everything's legit and hands the numbers to the public and company, the company can select whoever after that (in which case the public can decide to vote for that person or not). But this still has problems, the voting booth would essentially become a blacker box than it already is where the government just pulls out a number and promises it's true.
