I actually support this. Dogs are unreliable when detecting drugs because they can take cues off the handler. The use of a dog for locating drugs should require a warrant.

They are used to search people on foot here. They're not used that way in Australia as far as I'm aware, different law. There isn't a need to gain a detection to gain a warrent or levels of suspicion etc. Nor is evidence ineligible for admission to court if it is obtained is a flawed or illegal way (fruit of the poison tree is ok), so not as big an issue here.
