Capitalism doesn't work best when left alone, but by its design, it is supposed to be relatively self-adjusting, and so requires LESS maintenance.

Don't need to throw out capitalism, when the real problem is enforcement and making good on maintenance not happening because businesses are allowed to buy votes, essentially.

Essentially this also

Why the fuck don't we use nuclear power more?

>Why the fuck don't we use nuclear power more?
A combination of hippy liberals and the oil companies. So both sides are fucking us over.
>>
>>70584518
"left alone"

A house for everyone was a government funded project.
>>
>>70584845

Hippies and righteous cunts that think burning more coal due to dependence on intermittent power sources is a good idea
>>
>threw mile island meme
for fucks sake three mile island was blown WAY THE FUCK out of proportion. The proper fail safes were in place and the engineers who built the dam thing were the least afraid of it.
>>
>>70584518
If everyone was educated enough to make decisions that weren't retarded (investing major amounts of money in real-estate, actively bought high quality items), and competition came to fix the problem based on the decisions, then capitalism works great. If the government stopped robbing the people, then we can get paid more to spend on items (trickle-down economics)

Its has nothing to do with capitalism

Because if we do, Bernie Sanders will try dumping it in poor communities full of minorities, poisoning the land for generations by letting it leak into the water table.

>>70584518
Considering we had the AEC, EPA, and the NHTSA three of those could be used just as easily to argue against government regulation being effective. Two of those are the result of the same event where you could also make a case of the government's inability to regulate since it was the legislators that repealed those laws and then effectively transferred the losses to the taxpayer when they failed because of the high risks they took.
>>
>>70584518
>what is crony-capitalism
>>
>>70585175
Nobody said that. That's just a straw argument.
What people usually criticize about sweatshops is the fact that the workers live and work in appalling conditions for very low pay and little unionization.
>>
>>70585444
This is actually wrong. It is much cleaner and safer than anything else we have ever used.

>Three Mile Island
Caused by computer error, not lack of oversight
>Housing Bubble
Caused primarily by banking regulations, not the free market. Besides, even the most hardcore anarcho-capitalist acknowledges that a market crash must happen eventually.
>Asian sweatshops
The employees in these sweatshops are earning a fair wage in their country. Just because you think 25 cents and hour is inhumane doesn't make it so. These employees are likely the first people in their families to ever have an actual job that pays actual currency. Jesus fuck i'm triggered.
>Ford Pinto
Buy a better car. In a commie system, you only get the one car. God help you if comrade Ford fucks up that one car design because your dumb ass isn't getting anything else.

This image is retarded. I'm not an anarcho-capitalist but your image macro was made by an edgy teenager.
>>
>>70585684
why pay massively high min wage of $7 USD when i can goto China and pay them $50cents an hour and threaten to give the jobs to vietnam if the government intervene
>>
The first thing they use in an argument against capitalism is a nuclear accident that was so minor that nobody even got sick from it...? That the rates of cancer in the area actually became lower than the national average?

>>
>>70586245
Good point, we should raise it to $15
>>
>>70585985
They call it "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics." In practice it's a form of state capitalism.

The rich are usually members of The Party so lefties don't care.
>>
>>70585626
...in theory.
A clothing maker in Indonesia could work for years in a sweatshop but barely make enough money to buy rice for his wife and children. He probably wouldn't have access to affordable education, and he doesn't have the money to learn a trade and get a higher paying job.
>>
>>70586415
You should slowly raise it not jump it straight up. It's ok for profits to soar but wages to stagnate

There's a difference between

>But the government gave me back 25 at the end of the year!
And
>I made 100 bucks and had to pay 20 bucks in taxes
Jeeze I have 30 bucks left over
>>
>>70585820
they agreed to the pay and conditions, whats the problem?
>>
>>70585588
Solar and wind power show a lot of promise. They're just still in development.
>>70585663
Yes nuclear power can be clean if proper precautions are taken. The issue is that people don't always want to take such precautions.
IMHO we should stick with fossil fuels and regulated nuclear energy but slowly wean ourselves off it while we develop cheaper and more efficient means for renewable energy.
>>
>>70585444

There'd be no problem if they could get an alternative. It's just that the choices are between working a shit job for shit wages and unemployment.

Accurate. Its absurd to expect a capitalist industry to regulate itself. I don't give a shit how free the market is. All I care about how competitive it is because that leads to better deals for me as a consumer.

>falling for the Three Mile Meme
Wasn't even a bad accident, coal mines have had more devastating accidents. Simply because it was nuclear people lose their shit. I mean no one died, and there was little link to increased cancers, simply bullshit spewed from anti-nuclear non peer reviewed journals. Meanwhile take SL-1 a Government reactor, blew up and killed three. And guess what? Under the power of the private system TMI-1 is still going strong.

Capitalism is the worst economic system except for all the other forms.

Tell me, are bailouts a socialist or capitalist creation? How does corruption cease to exist with more government?

Everything is a balance.
>>
>>70584518
How are Asian sweatshops worse than the alternative, which is Asians dying of starvation?
How is the Ford Pinto any worse than the Yugo? Because no one was held accountable for the Yugo?
The housing bubble was caused by the government pressuring banks to give out NINJA loans.
Why is Three Mile Island a negative?
Isn't AIG the fault of the government?
