There's some interesting things going on in his music... well, not as much in the music as in the everything else surrounding it, like the lyrics and his public image, music videos and such. Nice takes on being rich and successful, I his cynicism is funny. I can see the appeal though I personally consider the songs themselves boring.
But even if you look at Kanye's career as a performance art project, there's been more interesting bands doing that already, like The KLF. I also feel like Kanye doesn't know when to stop, it's like his running out of steam.
