Assuming the exchange of new plagues don't kill us both, I think the only way world peace would ever come about is if we came in contact with other nonhuman intelligent lifeforms. It doesn't have to be a belligerent one, but one capable of mutually-assured destruction if we were hostile to it. Basically an intelligent life we'd have to show mutual respect to. I think then we would achieve world peace, but not space peace. I think this is because we'd start seeing us all as just humans with minor variations (like dogs). Different sects of dividing religions, dividing sects of Nationalism, dividing country borders, and etc. would go away and we'd also rapidly move toward a one-world government along with human multiculturalism.
