To save money, should prisoners that commit felonies be given the option to kill themselves instead of serving their sentence?
Like say a cyanide pill, and they sit in a room for 24 hours to make their decision to swallow it or not. If they don't take it, they serve their sentence as normal and pill taken away.

No. The entire idea of a sentence is to serve time. If some one looking at 35 years in jail had this option, they'd take it in a heartbeat. They commit their atrocity, then get off easy. Retribution isn't in death, its slowly wasting your only life away behind bars.

dont forget that some prisonners were led to make bad decisions given some circumstances. imagine if you were raped all your childhood, humiliated and beaten down. Your soul is crushed. Its easy to lose control of yourself and throw all your anger on an innocent. I think everybody deserve a second chance. We need better jails that focus on helping these troubled souls. If you kill these people it wont fix the problem. It's like if someone has cancer and instead of helping him you kill him. My ex was in jail and it was a terrible experience for him.

Ideally, any prisoner that failed to maintain a minimum amount of "good time" at the end of their sentence, or has spent X% of their life behind bars would be deemed incapable of reform and euthanized.
That way the fuckers would be forced to behave, attend classes, and get jobs over the course of their sentence or face death.
