No, since you are ameriburger, I will explain and translate. After I finished highschool I started my own business (I was 18 at the time), selling and delivery of flowers in a backwaters russian town. Back then (2006-2007) delivery of flowers was unheard of in a shithole I lived in.
Also I brought imported flowers from Moscow, so selection was much bigger than any other place in town that only sold from local suppliers. In half a year, my business grew from 1 store to 3 outlets. And I made over 10k USD (which is crazy amount of money for Russian provincial town in 2007). But it all ended, since my "success" attracted attention of local officials who started demanding bribery, everyone from police to fire department. Then local criminals who also wanted a cut.
It became so bad, that the amount of bribes I had to pay was more than I payed in wages to my 12 employees. And business became unprofitable. I was 19 at the time. Being naive as I was, I went to DA and even internal investigation, which were just as corrupt and on same payroll as local administration and police. I still wonder, how the hell I didn't get into trouble when they saw me ratting on their "comrades".
So I got completely devastated, since all that I worked for was ruined by rotten and corrupted system. I decided to gather all my savings and just leave, then I kinda got an idea about moving to China, learning Chinese and just see where things would take me. So I went to China, first Beijing, studied chinese half a year, but then moved to Guangdong since I also wanted to work and that's where all the manufacturing was. I kinda did this "trade representative" job on the side while studying for Russian/CIS companies. I was on the site, knew some chinese at the time and was very convinient for them to deal with me, rather than with fuckwits from Alibaba who barely could use Google Translate for english, not to mention russian.

After two years I had pretty decent amount of savings, lot of contacts in different fields of manufacturers in China, from chemical and steel manufacturers up to contacts in electronic OEMs like Foxconn. I know lots of Russians who made money in the US. I made a lot of money here too. Russians are a fairly wealthy diaspora. Thus we don't really feel like a community. The poorer Russians do live in a Russian community, but they really are poor and not politically active.
I do know people who went back to Russia. It's much cheaper to maintain their lifestyle in Russia than in the US. I would say their quality of life there is awesome. But they are not typical Russians in Russia. I visited them, and their lifestyle kicks ass for a fraction of a cost if you are to do that in the US. The cost of living is very low in Russia, so a guy who is semi-retired and pull around $100K a year can have sex with a new girl everyday and fly across Europe and do shit that you really can't do in the US.
I once went to Russia for the New Years, and I've met some Germans that threw a rave in an active hospital 50 miles away from Moscow. That's the kind of shit you can do there. Now it's more orderly, but you can do some insane shit in Russia that you really can't do anywhere in the World.
