There are a couple of exceptions but actually go look at polling averages and results - If It's a primary - Trump is almost always about ~1-2% higher than his polling average (Because there are undecided in polls)

Cruz has no reason to do that though. If Trump doesn't get the nomination, and you admit that he won't, then Cruz will be the nominee because he's been buying off delegates in case this happens.
